Landon looks at us, surprise flickering across his face as his eyes land on Fox’s hand still wrapped around my wrist.“Uh… yeah?”
“Cam’s riding with me,” Fox says simply, offering a small nod.“That cool with you?”
Landon blinks, glancing at me for confirmation.“Uh, yeah.Sure.That’s fine.”
“Thanks, man,” Fox says, his tone genuinely polite as he releases my wrist and claps Landon lightly on the shoulder.
Landon gives me a look that says,We’re going to talk about this later, before muttering, “No problem,” and heading toward his car.
Fox turns back to me, his expression softening.“You ready to go, babe?”
I nod, glancing toward Blaze, who’s still standing a few feet away, watching the exchange with an unreadable expression.
“You good?”Fox calls out to Blaze.
Blaze’s lips quirk into a small, almost knowing smile.“Yeah, man.I’ll catch you later.Be careful, Cam.”
“Thanks, Blaze,” I reply, offering him a quick smile before he heads toward his own car.
Fox and I walk to his car, his hand brushing mine as we move.He opens the passenger door for me, grinning at my raised eyebrow.
“That’s new,” I tease.
“Shut up and get in before I change my mind,” he fires back with a smirk.
I laugh and slide into the seat, watching as he rounds the car and gets in on the driver’s side. Before he even starts the car, he leans toward me and presses his lips against mine. The kiss is quick but intense, leaving me breathless.
“Fuck, I missed you,” he whispers, his voice rough.
I smile, biting my lip again.“I missed you too.”
“Can you skip work today?”he asks, his eyes scanning my face.
“You know I can’t.I already skipped yesterday,” I reply, laughing softly.
He sighs dramatically but leans in to kiss me again, this time slower, savoring the moment before pulling back and starting the car.
As we pull out of the parking lot, I can’t help but glance back at Blaze and Landon, both of whom are still lingering in my mind.
“You think something is going on between Blaze and Landon?”I ask.
Fox’s expression shifts slightly, though he keeps his eyes on the road.“Honestly?I wouldn’t be surprised.Blaze talks about Landon more than he realizes. At first, I thought it was just him being annoyed because Landon’s gay, but now… I don’t know.It feels different.”
I nod, processing his words.“Do you care if Blaze is gay?”
“Not even a little,” Fox replies without hesitation.“Meeting you? That changed a lot for me.I don’t care who Blaze loves, as long as it’s real.”
I smile at him, feeling a warmth spread through my chest.
As we approach Gio’s Burger, where I work, I spot a figure near the parking lot.My heart skips a beat when I realize who it is.
Elias.
Fox notices him too, his grip tightening on the steering wheel as his jaw clenches.
What the hell is he doing here?
