"I don't want to alarm you at all, but I would probably keep your distance from boys like that. Referring to any girl as a 'piece of ass' frankly, turns my stomach. It doesn't make what Caleb did acceptable, though, but I suppose he felt he had a justifiable reason."
"My ass was his?" I repeated, shaking my head.
Principal Potts nodded before writing something down on the paper before her. "I will contact your parents so that they can support you both—"
"No. Please don't. I'm sure I can deal with this myself, I'm not worried... It's just how guys talk. Thank you, though." I exclaimed as she pressed her lips together.
"Are you sure? I'll be speaking to JT shortly, but I just wanted to let you know first. Where have all the gentlemen gone?" She sighed, looking up at me sadly.
"I know. Believe me; I'm looking for one myself. Thanks again, Principal Potts." I smiled as I stood up, turning towards the door. I let myself out, leaning against the thick wooden door as I let out a sigh. I left my smile in the office and scanned the busy corridor. "Where are you, you fucker?" I muttered as I stalked the hall, peering into every classroom on the way down just in case. The last port of call was the gym, and I pushed open the boys' changing room to see the entire football team standing around half-naked.
Bingo.
"Where's JT?" I demanded as I folded my arms, scanning the bemused faces with a fierce glare.
"Summer? Why'd you want JT?" asked Gabe from beside me, the proximity of a naked Gabe making me feel slightly uncomfortable. I averted my eyes as the guys pushed JT forward, his eyes sparkling with mischief.
"Hey Summer, what did I do to deserve a visit from you—"
I swung my fist back and punched him in the face as hard as I could.
"What thefuckis wrong with you Fallons, man!" JT roared as his nose poured with blood.
There were claps and whistles from the team as I stood closer to him.
"Howdareyou ask me out after disrespecting me to my brother? My ass isnotfucking yours. It never will be. So fuck you!"
I was trembling with anger, not only for me but for Caleb. I knew how much this must have affected him, so he deserved that punch in my mind. My hand ached as I turned to walk away.
JT sneered from behind me. "Frigid as fuck, told you. Fuckingvirgin." He spat on the floor as I heard someone slamming him into a locker and turned to see Gabe holding him by the throat.
"Shut your fucking mouth, you dirty prick!" His eyes were blazing with anger. His jaw clenched as he tightened his grip on JT.
"Are you her guard dog now? That's how it is?" JT croaked as I put my hand on Gabe's arm. His skin was hard to the touch, and as I squeezed his arm, he turned his gaze to me.
"He's not worth it, Gabe. Let him go." I whispered as the room fell silent.
Gabe glared back at JT, who was smirking at him.
What a fucking prick.
Gabe released him by throwing him halfway across the room. I backed away as he pulled on a t-shirt, not before I saw his rippling back muscles. I gulped, aware I was staring.
"You okay?" he asked gruffly, grabbing his bag and pushing me towards the door.
"Yes. No. Sort of. What?" I squeaked as he looked at me quizzically.
"Baby girl," he whispered. "You need to stop flying off the handle. Jumping into fights, starting them. I'm not always going to be there to protect you."
I felt like I couldn't breathe; his face was so close to mine, I could smell the mint on his breath. His eyes searched mine, falling to my lips as he sighed, pushing his hand through his wet hair.
"I've gotta go," he said half-heartedly, swinging his bag onto his back.
"Kennedy?" I whispered as he frowned.
"No, English actually," he smirked as he turned me away from the gym, pushing me forward with his hands on my shoulders.
"Behave, please. As much as I'd like to, I can't spend all day by your side, just in case.."
