"What?" I stammered as he laughed, my heart trying to beat its way out of my chest.
"Gabe! English! Let's go!" I heard my twin roar from the opposite end of the corridor, and my heart sank as he walked away.
"Nothing. Be good." He winked as he jogged away, taking a piece of me with him.
What the actual fuck? I have a crush on my brother's best friend—a pretty serious one at that.
I needed a distractionquickly.
I pulled my phone out and sent a text to Jett, telling him I could meet him that evening if he wanted to pick me up from Jade's. Jade understood, the guys in my family were freaks of nature, and no guy could ever pick me up from there. He replied instantly, telling me he'd meet me at seven. I sent him her address and breathed a sigh of relief.
Blue-eyed sub coming up.
I texted my mom and told her I would stay at Jade's for dinner and be home later. Of course, she didn't suspect anything and replied that it was fine.
Now to find Jade.
CHAPTER 12
CALEB
Ihad to formulate a plan. I couldn’t stand to sit in the same room as Miss DeQuincy any longer without knowing what she felt like, what she tasted like, how her pleasure would sound. Every movement she made commanded my attention, even my grades in English had picked up significantly.
Making our way out of class, I mentioned to Gabe that Mom was cooking up a storm tonight in the kitchen—Summer was missing out as she was eating at Jade’s.
“...Which leaves a spare seat for you.”
We bumped fists as he smiled. He’d seemed distracted today, all quiet and no banter.
It wasn’t like him.
Maybe Kennedy had been piling on the pressure for them to get more serious or something equally horrific.
“Okay, what’s going on?” I huffed as we reached my car and threw our stuff into the back seats.
Gabe rolled his eyes at me as he buckled himself in, pushing his sleeves up his arms.
“Summer punched JT on the nose today,” he chuckled. I stared at him in shock.
“No fucking way—she did?!” I shook my head with a mixture of pride and disbelief.
Who knew my twin had it in her? One minute she agrees to a date with JT; the next, she was swinging punches!
Brilliant.
Gabe told me all about it, and I silently applauded Summer.
“Well, I’ll be damned!” I hooted as we drove away from school, heading straight for my house.
The twins finished before me, so Mom or Dad would have picked them up, no doubt. I was tired, but my mind was busy. I’d decided to try to find Miss DeQuincy on social media and stalk her a bit before I messaged her with a proposition. It was genius. Even if she said no, or ignored me, she wouldn’t get into any trouble. It was on me to make the first move, and I was down with that.
Gabe remained unusually quiet, and I let him be.
My house was carnage, as usual. Mom and Dad had been drinking red wine and kissing like love-struck teenagers when we walked in.
“For fuck’s sake. Can you reign it in a bit now that I’m home? It’sgross,” I begged. Gabe smiled at me, sympathetically. “Do your parents behave like this?” I demanded. He made a disgusted face.
His parents were much older than mine and spent most of their time apart. His mother was a church-going saint, and his dad was a quiet man who just wanted to fish in peace. Twenty-four hours a day.
