Miles watched as she continued to play. It seems like he was going to need to take a different approach.
Weighing the odds of it backfiring on him, Miles walked over and placed a finger under her chin forcing her to look at him.
“You have two minutes to clean up your toys or you will spend time over my knee before dinner this evening.”
Her eyes widened at his statement. He knew it was a risk to voice a physical punishment like that, but it was one he was willing to take.
That finally caught her attention and she quickly started to pick up the blocks and placed them in the toy box. Once done, Miles helped her stand and they made their way back out of the nursery.
He watched her slide onto the barstool and wait to see what to do next. Deciding to let her come back to her Big side naturally, he started to cook dinner waiting to ask questions about her thoughts of it all.
Ten minutes passed before he cleared his throat.
“Did you have fun this afternoon, Liv?”
“I did. I really enjoyed being able to play with the blocks. It was everything that I remembered it to be.”
“Is there something that you would have liked to do differently?”
He loved that she took the time to consider his question rather than just blurting out the first thing that came to mind.
“No, I don't think so. It was a little hard at first to completely erase the thoughts that had been running rampant in my mind, but once I did, it was like the weight of the world eased off my shoulders.”
“That’swonderful, babygirl.”
“Thank you for playing with me. I’m sure that you had better things that you could have been doing.”
“There was nothing more important for me to do than spend time with you.”
She blushed at his words. Deciding to keep the knowledge of those text messages to himself, Miles continued to ask questions, helping her fully come out of Littlespace.
By time dinner was done, Little Olivia was gone and she was back to being her adult self.
“I would love nothing more than to be able to convince you to stay another night, but I know that you have to work tomorrow.”
She nodded her head.
“I don’t want you driving while it’s too late and is too dark for you to see.”
“I don’t want that either. I don’t like the dark at all.”
“Good. Head on home, babygirl, but text Daddy as soon as you get there.”
“Okay, I can do that, Miles.”
“One day you will call me Daddy and I can’t wait to hear that word fall from your sweet lips.”
Helping her out to the car, Miles placed her bag on the passenger seat before heading around to where she stood on the other side. Grabbing her hips and pulling her close, he planted a kiss on her lips.
While he had intended to keep it short and sweet, it seemed like his Little girl had different plans. Letting her take the lead, they stood there making out like teenagers before Miles finally pulled away.
“If you don’t get in the car now, I won’t let you go anywhere but to my bedroom.”
A blush bloomed across her cheeks before she turned and slid into the car and buckled.
“Goodnight, Miles.”
“Goodnight, Little one. Drive safe and remember to text me when you get home.”
