Miles stood in the driveway long after her taillights had faded. Knowing what he needed to do, he turned and headed inside. There was only one way to get more information about the mystery texts and he knew exactly where to start.
CHAPTER THIRTEEN
OLIVIA
It had almost been three weeks since Olivia saw Miles. Of course he was always texting her to check on her.
It wasn’t the same though. It never worked out with their schedules to find time together. She was looking forward to this weekend with Miles.
She missed being around him. Miles felt like a safe haven and she really needed that. Especially since it seemed like David was always lurking around the corner.
Olivia was starting to be more concerned about what he was going to do. It wasn’t like she could go to the police though, so she just continued to ignore the messages and phone calls.
The buzzing of her phone pulled her away from her thoughts.
Unknown: You can’t ignore me forever.
Olivia really hoped that she could, but she knew that was a terrible hope to have. If she was smart she would have alreadyleft this town, but it was finally starting to feel like home and she wasn’t ready to give that up yet.
Unknown: Does the man know all the secrets that you are hiding? I bet that he doesn't.
Unknown: Maybe I should go ahead and fill him in on just who you are.
Her heart began to race. She couldn’t let that happen. Miles couldn’t know about her secret. It would ruin everything.
This is why she should have never gotten close to him. She knew that it was a terrible idea to let him in. She would never have a chance at being happy as long as David was still out there.
She had to end this. That was the only way to keep him safe. It was the only way to keep any of them safe.
Olivia knew that she was going to have to move again. She was going to miss the town she had fallen in love with, but she couldn’t stay here.
Miles: Hey, Little Bunny! Still coming over this weekend? Daddy has missed you so much.
Olivia: Yeah of course! I can’t wait!
Miles: Me either, Little girl. Me either.
Olivia knew that it was stupid. She shouldn’t go over there. Her heart wanted one last weekend with him, though.
She knew she would have to end it after the weekend was up. It was wrong of her to lead him on, but the thought of not getting one more weekend with him broke her heart.
Olivia pushed away all the thoughts of the pain that she was going to bring Miles and focused on packing her bag. Sliding Nibbles in, she zipped up the bag and headed out to her car.
Olivia: I’m on my way now! I’ll see you soon.
Miles: I can’t wait. Be careful, Little Bunny.
“Hey, babygirl!”Miles said to her before leaning down and giving her a kiss.
“Hi.”
Heading inside, she went to drop her bag into the spare room she had stayed in last time before a voice behind her spoke.
“Actually, I was hoping to talk to you first.”
“Okay? About what?”
“Well, I am hoping that I might convince you to spend the weekend with me.”
