“I can’t impose on you, Storm. It’s too much.”

“I enjoy keeping you fed.” Storm’s tone turned dry. “Besides, I taste test plenty when I cook. You don’t have to worry that I’m not eating enough.”

At that, Linus leaned back, looking closely at Storm’s lush pecs. “You definitely don’t look malnourished.”

Storm’s grin was all sharp teeth, thrilling in a way that Linus didn’t want to think too hard about. Storm continued to rub Linus’ back through the sheets, a slow, heavy touch that settled Linus’ nerves.

Because he felt so safe in Storm’s arms, Linus’ mouth moved without his permission. “What were you doing with my, uh, my toys? You said that wasn’t the first time you touched them.”

Storm stiffened; his gaze cut to the side. “I’ll tell you some other time.”

Linus nodded, but his mouth moved faster than his brain. “Do you... use them? Like an omega?”

Storm gaped at him. “No!”

“I mean, I won’t judge you if you do,” Linus said hurriedly. “I just wanted to know if they need to be cleaned again.”

Storm’s cheeks turned red. “No, I don’t use them. I just—”

He bit off his words, but Linus thought he looked slightly guilty all the same. “You don’t use them for... art projects, right?” Linus asked. “Like.. potato stamps?”

“Potato stamps?” Storm spluttered.

“I’ve seen a video of someone dipping toys into paint and using them to make art pieces. Kind of like potato stamps,” Linus admitted. “It was odd.”

“No, definitely not that.”

Storm’s horror grew with each new thing Linus told him. It was a look that made Linus smile.

“Hey,” Storm protested. “What’s so funny?”

“You just don’t seem like a person who gets easily rattled.”

“I do get rattled sometimes. You just haven’t seen the other times,” Storm mumbled.

He was adorable in a way that Linus hadn’t expected. Linus hid a smile. “I’m sure you’re a very strong alpha.”

Storm turned pink again. “Thanks.”

“You should tell me about those other times you were rattled.”

“No! No alpha worth their salt would reveal their weaknesses.” Storm looked appalled.

“Alright.” Linus squirmed a little against Storm’s chest. He was starting to feel awkward remaining in Storm’s arms, when they were still practically strangers. He pulled away reluctantly. “Iamgetting hungry. How about I make you dinner?”

“I’mmaking dinner,” Storm said mulishly.

“But you’re a guest.”

The alpha worked his jaw. “I say we make one dish each. That way, we’re even.”

Linus pouted. “Fine.”

“If I had my way, you’d be sitting your pretty ass at the table and letting me do all the work,” Storm grumbled.

Did he really say that about my ass?Linus’ ears burned. With no idea how to respond, he hurried to the kitchen.

Only to realize that he was still wearing just his bed sheets.
