I saw her take a deep breath and reach down to pick up the box that Kelsey had carried in. I opened it and I immediately saw the countless notes that she had, along with something that I guessed was meant to be underwear, although it just looked like a couple of strips of fabric.
“Can you see why I started to panic? I was okay with stuff being delivered on shoots, but when the last message arrived at my house, I knew I had to do something. I’m too afraid to go home in case he turns up. I know I can keep my door locked, but it probably wouldn’t take much for it to be broken down.”
“Have you gone to the police about it?”
“Of course I have. They told me there was nothing they could do unless he makes some kind of threat towards me.”
I could tell she was starting to lose it again. Even with the hint of anger within it, the tone of her voice told me she was scared and worried.
“I would say this is pretty much a threat.”
I sat there as Abigail calmed herself and took another sip of her drink. It was obvious to me she needed some form of security, and it needed to be around the clock. Sienna was correct; it had to be someone we trusted. But was that something Abigail would consider?
“I have a suggestion, but you need to hear me out before you point-blank refuse. Okay?”
A small nod of the head confirmed she was listening.
“I think you should have someone with you at all times like Sienna had when she was having all the problems with William.”
“You mean a bodyguard.”
“Basically, yes. I have someone working for me that would be perfect for the job. He is part of the senior staff here and doesn’t have any family, so it wouldn’t impact his home life. I know you wouldn’t want that.”
I saw the worry on her face before she spoke.
“Can you trust him?”
“He saved Sienna’s life by taking the bullet meant for her. I would say that pretty much confirms how much I can trust him.”
I saw the worry change to realisation across her face. She knew exactly who I was talking about, even if she had never actually met the man.
“If you think that is for the best, then I will agree to it. At the moment, I don’t even feel safe at home, so I know I need to do something.”
“Thank you. It would make both me and Sienna feel more at ease knowing someone is there. Before you agree though, let me get him in here and you can make a decision then.”
I got up from the settee and went over to my desk. Picking up the phone, I called Kye’s extension.
“Kye, can you come to the office, please? I have a job for you and need you to meet someone… Thanks.”
I waited at my desk for Kye to walk through the door. I wanted to see their reaction to each other when I introduced them. There was a knock on the door, and Kye opened it and walked in.
“Thanks for coming in, Kye. I’d like to introduce you to one of Sienna’s friends, Abigail Clarke. Otherwise known as the famous model Lila Goddard.”
When they looked at each other, I got the reaction I had hoped to see. I knew it well, because it was exactly the same reaction I’d had with Sienna when we first saw each other. I knew then I had made a perfect choice.
