SERENITY
“Ren! Wake up, wake up!”
My sister’s voice booms through the room as her hands grip my shoulders and she shakes me, making my eyes snap open. The early morning light cracks through the shade, and I turn my head to the left to get a look at the time on my cell.
7:19 a.m.
What. The. Hell.
I turn back around to see her still trying to get my attention. My eyes fight to close once more, but I fight back. “Lissa… it’s so early…” I flip around to the other side, tossing the covers over my head.
“Oh, no you don’t!” Lissa’s hands land on me and she spins me back around. Once I’m facing her, I sit up and she adds, “You need to spill it, woman.”
I smile as the thoughts of the night before fill my mind. Zander was wonderful. Amazing. Sexy. And that kiss? Amazing and perfect.
And damn, could the man kiss.
I bite down on my bottom lip, reliving the taste of his lips on mine and our tongues wrapped around one another. Yum. So fucking yum.
Even though the kiss was innocent and indicated nothing more than a sweet one, there’s no denying that he awoke certain parts inside of me I thought had died a long time ago.
My smile widens, and immediately Lissa takes notice because she nudges me. “Hey! Tell me how last night went. You’re obviously thinking about it right now, and from the look on your face, it must have been pretty damn good.”
If you only knew, Lissa. If you only knew…
“It was,” I finally say moments later, deciding to let her in on it.
She giggles. “I knew it!”
Still smiling, I reply, “You know nothing,” teasingly.
Lissa nods. “Exactly. I don’t know anything about last night,” she pauses for a moment to grab my arm, and as she shakes me back and forth, she adds, “so how about you freaking tell me already!”
Laughter escapes from my mouth, and it feels so damn good to finally laugh after so long of being sad. I know it was only one date, and I don’t want to move too fast, but I can’t deny the fact that he just makes me feel good.
Taking a deep breath, I stretch my arms and think once more about my date with Zander. Shrugging, I say, “Lissa, he’s just so sweet and wonderful and amazing. I’ve never met anyone like him before. I know it was only one date and I don’t really know him all that well yet, but man, I feel like I’ve known him forever. I just felt so comfortable with him.”
She smiles. “I’m so happy it went so great! I’m guessing you’ve made plans to see one another again?”
My smile widens.
“Yes!” she shouts, arms in the air.
I chuckle.
“Wait,” she says then. “Is that how the night ended?” She raises an eyebrow and I know exactly what she’s getting at.
I giggle softly. “We kissed.”
More cheers from her seat on my bed. “And how was that?”
“Better than I could have ever imagined. It was—” Before I can finish my sentence, my cell phone rings on my nightstand and I jump up to get it.
My heart wishes for it to be Zander, but it’s so early. Would he really be calling me at this time?
“Who is it?” Lissa asks as she eyes me.
I shrug, looking at the mysterious number coming up on my screen. “I’m not sure. I don’t recognize this number.”
