I just nod. “Yeah.”

He crosses his arms across his chest. “So spill.”

Furrowing my brows, I ask, “Spill what?”

He shakes his head, obviously disapproving of my statement. “What does she look like?”

I fight back a smile, but as hard as I try, I can’t. “Man, she’s gorgeous.”

A wide grin pulls at the corners of his lips. “Nice, tell me about her.”

I think back to the other day and allow the image of the mysterious angel to flood my mind. “She’s got long, dark flowing hair, green eyes, and a smile that would melt your heart…” Describing her out loud to my best friend almost takes my breath away.

“Nice.” He sits back in his seat again. “So what’s your plan then?”

I furrow my brows. “Plan?”

He chuckles. “Yeah. Your plan,” he repeats like it’s something I should already know about. “You’re not just going to drop the whole thing like a hot potato, are you?”

I think over his words, not sure what he is expecting from me. “I’m not sure what you think I should do…”

Matt shakes his head. “I think you should go see her again.”

“What?” I must have not heard him correctly. Telling me to go see her again? No way.

“You heard me. I think you should go see her again. As a matter of fact, I know you should go see her again.”

“And then what?” I would love to know what his brilliant idea is.

He smirks. “And then talk to her, introduce yourself, and ask her out.”

I almost choke on my saliva. “Yeah, okay.”

Matt stands up. “I’m serious, Zander. You should ask her out and take a chance. The worst thing that can happen is that she’ll say no. And then, you can just go on your merry way. But if she says yes…” He shifts his weight from one foot to the other.

“If she says yes,” I repeat, surprising myself by actually considering his plan of action.

He smirks again, tilting his head. “If she says yes, no, wait, scratch that. When she says yes, you’ll be thanking me a million times over.”

Maybe my friend is a little out there. Maybe his idea is not something I would typically do. But maybe he’s not so crazy after all, and I can actually do this. After all, like he mentioned before, the worst that can happen is that she’ll say no and tell me to fuck off.

I decide to take the leap and agree to his crazy idea that I never would have done in a million years.

“Okay,” I respond.

He sits back down. “Okay, what? Okay you’ll do it, or okay not happening.”

I chuckle. “Okay, I’ll do it.”

He smiles from ear to ear. “Great! So we just have to—”

“Just give me some time and I’ll do it.” I cut him off before he could get any further.

He nods, still smiling. “Okay, bro. But don’t take too long. You don’t want some other dude sweeping her off her feet before you’ve even had a chance to ask her out.”

I nod back. “No, it won’t be long. I’ll go see her and ask her out right after the holidays.”

I will. I just have to keep my eyes off of that picture on the wall they have hanging at the store so I don’t turn back and run right out of the store before I even have a chance to say hello.
