“It sounded serious,” she said watching him closely.
“It might be. But it’s also Dominic. When he wants his way, he goes about getting it. So It might also be nothing.”
“Hmmm,” she said.
He was still staring at her, studying her, his blue eyes giving her a strength that only he could.
You will never know unless you try.
“Okay. When do we leave?”
He was standing in the private airport hallway waiting for her to get out of the bathroom hoping that she had been able to keep her lunch down, she had been looking a little green around the edges.
He was just glad that he’d had the foresight to use a private air line. A benefit of being part of the Mancini Family. He couldn’t even imagine how she would handle being around thousands of people in a crowded airport.
“We have to fly?” she had whispered sitting next to him, her hands grasping at the arm rests like she was literally holding on for dear life, even though the air plane was still on the tarmac.
“It’s a five day drive. I promise flying isn’t that bad.” She had nodded, but hadn’t looked convinced.
“I’m gonna take a wild guess and say you haven’t flown before.” He had smiled at her. Even nervously sitting next to him, she was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen.
But she didn’t smile back, just turned her head to look at him, then glanced back out the window.
“Only once,” she whispered.
Fuck.
“Winter.” He called to her, reaching over and with a finger under her chin and turned her head toward him. “We don’t have to do this.”
She reached up and placed her hand over his. He had thought it was to move his hand away, but instead she surprised him. Wrapping her fingers around his, she lifted his hand and briefly brushed her lips against his hand.
Fire shot through him, and he had to stifle a groan.
“Thank you, but I’m fine. Will you switch seats with me though?” He was instantly out of his seat and pulling her up and over.
She pushed the arm rest up between them and leaned into him resting her head on his shoulder, his arm wrapped around her.
It was the best fucking flight of his life.
Unfortunately for her though, the flight had turned out to be a bit bumpy and the worst flight for her to experience outside of Ernesto.
It also didn’t help that she was nervous about meeting his family.
He couldn’t blame her.
