They were no closer to figuring out anything.
And Dominic was hesitating.
She was about to lose it.
Danny had been searching the computer nonstop while Rick simultaneously made calls and tried to come up with a plan.
At least they were doing something. Even Branson was coming up with something.
“Listen I know that you don’t like involving the cops, but he might have a different idea of what to do.” Branson huffed.
He was losing patience as well.
“Just stay the fuck out of it,” Dominic muttered, and she clenched her hands on her lap a little tighter.
“What the fuck Dominic.” Danny scowled at him.
She felt as if she couldn’t breathe.
They were all fighting about what they should or shouldn’t do, but when it came down to it, they weren’t doing anything.
Her Mark was out there, and for all she knew he could be dead.
Please!
“He isn’t one of us. I don’t even know why the fuck he’s here!” Dominic shouted, his hands going to his hair, his eyes wild.
“Right, like you have any better say.” Branson growled, the nice man that she knew dropping to pieces around them, and in its place was an anger that filled the room.
This was not a man to mess with.
“What the fuck is that supposed to mean?” Dominic snarled.
Fucking Stop!
Her nails bit into her hands as she clenched them tighter.
“Like you haven’t made him work his whole life for acceptance. You want to know why he puts you out there? Why he doesn’t let you close?” Branson shouted, standing up and leaning into Dominic.
For once Dominic didn’t seem to be in control.
A bad combination.
Very bad.
Dominic’s face shut down.
“You don’t know what the fuck you are talking about,” Dominic snarled.
But he was losing.
And based on how he was glaring at Branson he knew it too.
“Right. I’m just the fucked-up convict. The expendable one. Why the fuck do you think Mark and I are friends you stupid motherfucker!”
“You need to shut the fuck up.” Dominic’s words chilled the room around them, the ice slithering over her skin as she stood up next to Branson.
An ache started in her chest radiating out till she was almost gasping for air. Her hands clenched at her sides.
