“Hi,” Blakey mumbles as I swing the door open.

My brows raise in surprise that she’s here. She never stops by unannounced. Then, my stomach drops. “Blakely! Is everything okay? Where’s Amari?” I ask, stepping closer to her.

Her eyes widen as she realizes I’m worried about our daughter. “Oh, God. Yes. Everything is fine.”

I throw my head back and let out a sigh as relief rushes through me.

“Sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you.” She places a comforting touch on my arm.

“It’s okay. Come in,” I say, opening the door a bit wider. The aroma of her vanilla scent lingers behind her as she walks in. The skintight leggings she’s wearing accentuate the curves of her hips. Again.

Damn it. All the blood in my body floods to my lower region.

She takes a seat on the couch. “Can we talk?”

I’m honestly surprised that she is finally coming to talk to me. Although, at the same time, my chest constricts, not knowing what she wants to talk about. I’ve waited months for her to talk to me, and now all I feel is a sense of nausea, not knowing what she is going to say. I look down at her finger to give me a hint, but it’s empty—just like all the other times I noticed it was empty. That’s not going to help me.

She fiddles with her hands, narrowing her gaze at me. I slowly sit back down on the couch, anticipating the unspoken words I’ve been waiting for months. “Do you still feel the same about me? The same as the last time we talked?”

“Yes.” I tilt my head, confused by her question.

A slight smile rises on her face. “I broke it off with Liam,” she whispers, searching my eyes.

I take in a deep breath. Am I hearing this correctly? “What?” I search her face for any sign that what she really wants is me.

Us.

Our family.

Is this really what she is telling me?

“Liam and I aren’t tog?—”

I cut her off and lean in closer to her. “So, what you’re telling me is…”

“I want my family back, Kai. I wantyouback,” she says with a shaky voice.

A rush of excitement makes my heart race. She wants to be with me. The woman I’ve loved since I was seventeen wants me.I thought I lost her forever. But she’s here. Right now, in front of me, telling me she wants me.

Wants us.

Wants our family.

I look at her, barely believing this is real. That after everything, she is choosing me.

I softly cup her cheeks, pulling her closer to me. I stare into her beautiful brown eyes and finally get to do what I’ve been wanting to do for so many years. I crash my lips onto hers, and the feelings are even better than I thought they would be. A spark ignites at the softness of her lips against mine. “You’re telling me you want to be back together?” I ask, just to be sure, kissing her on the tip of her nose. She nods her head. “You want me?” I ask, kissing her forehead, and she nods again. I lean my forehead onto hers. “Forever?” I whisper.

She’s smiling through the tears forming in her eyes. “And ever.” Our lips lock together, a wave of longing for her washing through me, deepening the kiss I’ve waited so many years for. The warmth of her body ignites me. I scoop her off the couch, lifting her into my arms. Our bodies pressed together, walking us to my bedroom. I can’t wait any longer.

I need her now.

I need to feel her.

I need to be inside her.

I lay her down on the bed, and she gazes longingly up at me. The weight of our mutual desire lingers in the air. “I love you, Kai,” she says underneath her breath.

That turns me into a feral animal, but I’ve waited so long for this, so I want to take my time. I want to feel every inch of her.
