A chuckle escapes me as I slide into the stool next to him. “That’s what she thinks because I already ate her brain.” I wink at him as the sweet melody of his giddiness continues to pour out of him.

Jonas immediately fills my heart with more love than I could’ve ever imagined. I look down at him as he continues to bite off pieces of bacon. Every few seconds he looks up at me with a playful look in his eye, reminding me so much of his father. Leah had informed me that she and Josiah, after years of working alongside each other, began to develop feelings. And while her soul will always belong to Jacob, she was thankful for this second opportunity at love. I held her hand as she sobbed to me about Jonas’ adoption. It was four years ago when Josiah legally became his guardian, but Leah made it clear his paternal love blossomed long before then.

It was obvious with the way she spoke that she had no idea who Kameron was, and while I never want to lie to her, last night wasn’t the time to reveal the truth. It was time forus. Just us. Leah and Lilith. And I think we both found some healing throughout that late night conversation.

She turns to me from her place in front of the stove, sliding over a plate of burnt bacon. “I saved them just for you. After your excursion yesterday, I assumed you’d be starving.” I look down at the pieces of meat, feeling my mouth begin to water. It’s been weeks since we had our last genuine meal, and right now this looks divine.

“You are the best person on this planet,” I groan, shoving bits of the food into my mouth. I take care to not scarf this down like an animal, but I can’t help but rush slightly. The last few days up in the cabin were full of empty, growling stomachs. I’m too eager to get rid of the hunger pains I’ve grown accustomed to.

“Good morning,” a familiar voice coasts through the air. I turn in my stool and gaze at Kameron as he enters the kitchen. I can’t help the butterflies that storm through my stomach when our gazes connect. This man is beyond ethereal, and my desire for him has festered to a point it is painful to ignore. We held each other last night, but I’m still unsure if he had forgiven me for Adam or if he was just trying to comfort me.

He smirks at me with mischief, and only then do I realize that my cheeks are fuller than a chipmunks the day before hibernation. My embarrassment has me widening my eyes and spinning back into place. I choke slightly on a sliver of the bacon, my eyes shooting up to Leah’s for help. She gives me a knowing smile, one I’m sure is trying to hold back a laugh, and looks back up to Kam.

“It’s so nice to finally meet you, Kameron!” she exclaims, heading around the kitchen island to pull him into an embrace.“Thank you for saving her.” I dart my gaze back to them, finally getting myself under control.

Kameron’s eyes lock onto mine with a questioning glance. I shake my head subtly, trying to let him know that she doesn’t know. He seems to get the hint as he squeezes her back. “It was my honor.”

The honesty in his voice sends a splinter through my heart. He can’t still be angry, can he?

“Good morning!” Josiah calls out as he walks into the kitchen, shuffling sideways to get past Kameron and Leah. Immediately he heads over to Jonas, kissing his forehead before continuing. “Are you ready for school?”

“Yes daddy!” Jonas grins up at him before hopping off of his stool. He gives me one more curious look before following Josiah out of the garage door to the left of the kitchen. I watch as the door creaks its way to a close, taking a moment to bask in the happiness of this home. On the other side of the wood, I can still hear that little boy’s laughter as his father loads him up in the car.

“I have to head out, but please promise me you’ll still be here when I get home.” Leah pleads to me as she waltzes over to the same door. Her beautiful family waiting in the car for her.

I give a quick glance to Kameron, realizing I’m still unsure as to what our plan is. He gives me a warm smile, contemptment coating his face, before nodding. I look back to Leah who is already smiling at me. She got her answer from Kameron, and the joy radiating from her is proof of that. She leans forward, wrapping herself around me in a warm hug. I pull her in tight, letting her curls tickle against my knuckles sitting at the base of her neck.I missed her so much.

“I’ll see you tonight.”

I nod in return, letting my chin slightly dig into her shoulder. I don’t want to let go just yet. I’ve missed these hugs. The onesthat feel like you’ve found home in a person. The kind of hug that makes you feel safe.

Kameron joins me at the island as Leah heads out of the door. He reaches forward quickly, snagging a piece of bacon from my plate.

“Hey!” I squeal, gently smacking his arm. “You thief!”

He looks over to me with stuffed cheeks, a grin breaking out as he begins to crunch on the bacon. Slowly, he starts to reach towards the plate again. Instinctively I throw myself towards him, reaching out attempting to grab his wrists. His long arms reach towards the ceiling, keeping them out of my grasp. I climb up into his lap, giving him a second to regain his balance before I start tugging on his arms. “So now you’re a ninja?” He laughs out.

With one more tug, he lets me win, or so I think. It’s not until his fingers are wiggling their way under my arms, attempting to tickle me, that I realize I picked a battle I’m not going to win.

“NO NO NO!” I shriek out in between cackles. He doesn’t let up, using one hand to pull my arms above my head. “Oh my GOD!”

“Give me the bacon!” He attempts to growl out. It mixes in with his amusement, forcing his words to come out much more playful than he intended.

I try to wiggle off of him, but his arm wraps around my waist, pulling me further into him. Only then do I feel his hardened length beneath me. My eyes dart to him and I’m met with a heated glare. “Give me the bacon, Lilith Jones,” he rasps out, pushing my body down against him. My jaw slackens as I roll my hips against him.

“Are you sure the bacon is what you want?” I whisper, leaning in closer to his face. His warm breath flutters against my face.

“I’m fucking starved, and if I can’t have that, I’ll need something else to eat.”

My tongue darts out to wet my lips and I watch as his eyes trail the path it leaves, true genuine hunger flickering across his face. “Well you can’t have my bacon.”

The moment I finish my sentence, he’s out of the stool. Cradling me in his arms, he spins in place, using his hips to push the stool out of the way. He lowers me until my back is pressed against the cool tile of the island, my legs dangling off the edge. Kameron’s fingers gracefully slide between my breasts and down my stomach, landing on the waistband of the shorts Leah had given me.

“So what shall I eat, Lilith?”

I squirm underneath him, desperate for his touch. He gently tugs against the shorts until they’re off the edge of the counter, and lets them fall to the ground below us. I had been going commando, and now my pussy is bare to him.

I roll my hips against his, fighting to get friction against my bundle of nerves. My clit pulses as he looks down at me. “Maybe they have some cereal?” He questions as he grips onto my hips.
