The pleasure builds fast, my abs tightening, my breath shallow gasps. I’m so damn close. “Laney, I’m?—”

She doesn’t stop, nor does she slow. She holds me with her mouth and her hands until I groan her name, spilling down her throat.

When I open my eyes again, she’s crawling over me, back up the bed, with a smug and satisfied smirk. I pull her to me, crashing my mouth into hers, tasting myself on her lips. I kiss her deep and slow and messy, rolling her onto her back, pressing my weight into her and wishing we could stay here all day.

“Your turn,” I murmur against her mouth, kissing my way down her chest.

She laughs softly, breath hitching as I gently bite her hip. “You’re insatiable.”

“With you?” I look up at her, grinning. “Always.”

An hour later, we decide breakfast is a good idea.

I call Lottie and Romy to see how the sleepover went while she goes downstairs to cook breakfast.

When I get down to the kitchen, Delaney’s wearing the shirt I took off last night—and I’m hoping nothing else.

“How are they? I was worried about Leia.” She glances over her shoulder from where she stands at the stove.

I come up behind her, in my jeans, and wrap my arms around her waist, pressing my face into her neck. “There might have been a nightmare.”

She whips around, the spatula flying across the room, hitting the wall, and falling to the floor. “We gotta go.”

I tighten my hands on her hips. “Leia’s good now. She’s eating breakfast.”

“But—”

“I know it’s not ideal,” I say.

“I’m a horrible mom. I should have waited until my parents were home or?—”

I take her hand and lead her to the kitchen table. I’m half tempted to ask her parents to let me buy it since I’ll remember last night every time I look at it.

She sits in the chair, and I hold her hands. “You didn’t do anything wrong last night. You left her with her family.” I tip my chin down and look into her eyes. “I was just as worried and was ready to grab my keys and drive you over. I don’t want our daughter to be upset either, but I want her to feel comfortable with my family, with me. I want her to know that they and I can help her through the hard stuff too. Lottie said she set up a fort and slept with them. That she was able to soothe Leia back to sleep. Wren helped too, and Leia’s good now.”

She nods. “I know you’re right. And I want her to be comfortable with your family and with you too.” She kisses my lips. “But…”

I laugh. “You want to go have breakfast at my parents’ place?”

She nods.

“Okay.”

Delaney cringes. “I’m sorry.”

I guide her to sit on my lap. “Don’t apologize. I’d never be upset with you for wanting to make sure our kids are safe. But can we talk for just a second?”

She wraps her arms around my neck, and my hand falls to her outer thigh. “Of course.”

I kiss her, trying to get that concerned look off her face. There’s fear in her eyes, and I assume she’s worried I’m going to take back what we did last night. I deserve it, but I’m going to prove to her every day that she can trust me again.

“Are we keeping this from the girls?” I ask.

“Well…”

“I’m good either way, but I want us on the same page.” I really have no idea what’s best for them. I hate to start us off by sneaking around again. We have nothing to be ashamed of, but I also don’t want the girls to be hurt.

She opens her mouth, and I decide to be truthful with her.
