“Yas, huh, Daddy.”
“Do you want to go to the cafeteria or try the cafe?? Daddy isn’t going to?let you have many choices over the next two weeks, but you’ve been such a good girl this morning that I’ll let you choose.”
Dancing foot to foot, she tapped her chin as she thought.
“The cafeteria, Daddy. Maybe I’ll see more Littles.”
“Good choice, Bitty Baby. Let me grab your diaper bag.”
He snagged her new backpack and helped her slide her arms through before clipping the chest piece. “Is it too heavy, baby?”
She wanted to giggle because it felt almost empty. “No, Daddy. Is perfect.”
He took her hand and led her toward the door.
“Daddy, Teefs wants to come.”
“Oh goodness. Daddy almost forgot her! I’m glad you were being such a good friend and remembered her,” he said.
She smiled. She was thebestfriend to Teefs. Maybe her only friend. Teefs was kinda violent to everyone else.
“Stay here and Daddy will grab her, okay?”
“Yas, Sir.”
“I mean it, Bitty. You’re too Little to wander the room without Daddy. Stay in this exact spot.”
“Yas, Sir. I promise,” she said seriously.
Pike knew he was only moving a few feet, but it was important to him to keep reiterating her headspace.
He grabbed the zombie baby and delivered her safely to Dallas. “Ready, Bitty?”??
Before she could answer, Pike’s belly growled and Dallas dissolved into Little girl giggles.
“I worked up an appetite, babygirl. Let’s go eat before the monster in my tummy gets out and tries to eat you!”
She playfully gasped. “Not me, Daddy!”
Pike lifted her into his arms and settled her on his hip. “No, baby. I?would never let anyone eat you… except maybe me.”
She blushed bright red and buried her head in his neck, making him release a big guffaw. “You make me so happy, little girl.”
CHAPTER 7
Pike carried Dallas all the way to the cafeteria, not putting her down until they reached the line. The area was busy this morning, much more so than when they’d visited last night. Several people looked at her and Daddy, but they all seemed really nice and they smiled at them both. Daddy filled their plates as they walked down the line. “Hold Daddy’s pocket,” he commanded when they left the line. She did, not as confused as the night before when he’d asked her to do it.
He sat her in the same spot as before and gave her then same?firm command not to move before going to get drinks for them again.
“Hi, Dallas!”
Dallas looked up and smiled big when she saw Sadie. “Hi!”
Sadie was already dressed in her school uniform, and she had two friends with her. “These are my friends Hayleigh and Wren,” the petite brunette introduced. “This is Dallas.”
“Hi, Dallas,” Wren said. She had on a school uniform just like Sadie. Her hair was red and curly and Dallas thought she was adorable, especially with the scattering of freckles across her face.
“Hi, Wren.”
