“Guys… I don’t know how, but I just experienced some funky, time-warp vision,” I told them nervously.
“What do you mean, baby?” Pryde probed with his thick brows furrowed.
“I just foresaweverythingthat’s going to take place, and it is not good. If we carry on with our plan, we will be victorious and kill the newborn vampires, but Rik and Kai are going to kidnap Healani’s parents. To prevent their deaths, I sacrifice myself in exchange, and they take me to this hideout. It isn’t until Kai hits me in the stomach that I find out I’m with child.” I chewed on my inner cheeks and watched as a series of emotions played across his face.
“What?” Pryde raced toward me. He placed his hand on my stomach and looked down at me. I stared into his russet brown eyes that transitioned into his golden lenses, and he smiled so damn hard. “So, my baby is having my baby?” he queried in his deep voice.
I smiled shyly. “I am, love,” I expressed.
He picked me up in his arms. The room exploded with applause as everyone walked up and congratulated us. After everyone rejoiced for us, we got back to business.
“So, sis… were you able to see how Rik and Kai were able to kidnap you all’s parents?” Dax questioned with concern.
“Yes, I did. They ambushed them while they were in bed. I think we should move them as soon as possible and have two bounties in their place. As soon as they enter the room, we shoot them both with poisonous flora arrows. We should still go forth with our plan for the newborn vampires. We should plan for a crew for the newborn vampires and a crew for Rik and Kai,” I remarked.
“That’s actually a great idea, beautiful,” Pryde voiced.
“Here, here,” everyone around the room sang. We went on to finish planning our attack.
“I toldyou that you would die by hands. Believe me, I always keep my promises,” Pryde said.
I looked on as he moved swiftly and ripped Kai’s limbs away, then his head. It rolled over to me, and I kicked it next to the rest of the dead vampires. My brother had Rik in a hold until he savagely tore his head from his body. He tossed Rik’s body into the pile of dead vampires, and Pryde followed suit with Kai’s limbs. Dax immediately set the pile ablaze. We all looked on victorious because our job was done.
Days later, we all sat around the table in the deliberation room as we celebrated our victory. I smiled with pride because I helped bring my haunting enemies to their deaths. Pryde’s voice snapped me out of my thoughts.
“You guys did amazing, as usual. I’m most grateful that we didn’t lose not one brother or sister in this renewed battle,” Pryde announced.
“Here, here!” everyone announced in unison.
We all held up our champagne flutes of green juice or green shots. Together, we took them to the head and slammed the glasses down. After eating, dancing, and partying, we all ambled home. I climbed into bed with Pryde. We kissed goodnight, and I dozed off as he rubbed my stomach.
The sound of the water and the smell of the ocean woke me up. I walked onto my patio and saw a young woman sitting in the sand as she watched the sunrise. There was a strong connection that pulled me to her, so I set off. I walked down the three patio stairs, holding my pregnant belly, and went to her. When I made it, I sat down next to her, and she turned to face me. I gasped because the woman was the spitting image of my mother, yet I saw a lot of Pryde’s features in her as well. This strange woman was breathtakingly beautiful with a smooth peanut butter complexion and almond-shaped russet brown eyes. She had the same wild brown mane as me with defined high cheekbones and plump lips. Her eyes flashed gold, and she grinned at me.
“Who are you?” I asked the strange woman.
“I’m your daughter, Mommy. My name is Keola. It means alive. You named me that after your ordeal with Kai and your father. You were grateful that I am alive,” she expressed sweetly.
“Oh, wow. That’s a beautiful name,” I told her. “But why are you here? Not that I’m not happy that you’re here,” I expressed, slightly nervous.
She smiled. “I understand, Mommy. I’m here to tell you that you can breathe now and let go of all the hurt. I’m here to tell you to live now. Enjoy Dad and your pregnancy. You don’t have to look over your shoulder anymore, Mommy,” she voiced and kissed my cheek.
I wrapped my arms around her so tightly. When we separated, a very handsome young man walked up and helped us both up.
“Thank you, but who are you?” I queried.
They both smiled at me. “Mommy, this here is my handsome husband, Akuma Tides,” she expressed.
“Tides as in Dax Tides? As in Healani and Dax’s son?” I gushed in shock.
“Yes, ma’am,” he answered and gave me a tight hug.
“But how and why? You guys are cousins,” I probed, still surprised.
“Mommy… we don’t share the same blood. He’s who my heart desires, and I'm the one he’s spent years chasing after until I gave in,” she stated.
Akuma smacked his lips and lightly tickled her. “Mom, she chased after me too. Don’t let her fool you,” he expressed, wrapping his arms around her waist.
“Oh my. This is going to be a disaster,” I voiced nervously.
