Creek’s musical mixes pulled me from my thoughts, and I focused back on the summer event. I bopped my head along to the music as Creek blended two of Megan thee Stallion’s songs with a pop song. The crowd got more lit, and for a minute, I got lost in the tracks. My baby had skills. I watched as one of her yellow headphones was on her ear and the other around her neck. Her fingers slid across the turntables with speed. She also looked amazing in her strapless, one-piece white jumpsuit. In between the glances we exchanged, we blew each other kisses. I tried not to distract her, but I had to hear her voice.

“You look so fucking beautiful tonight. You are glowing, and your curls are blowing. Baby, if we weren’t handling business right now, I'd have my head buried between those plush thighs,” I stated telepathically.

A smile appeared on her face before her laughter filled my head. “You are such a naughty boy, love. Thank you for the compliment as well. Lovey, you’re delicious as well. I hope whatever happens tonight ends early because I've been craving you since we got dressed a few hours ago,” she replied, never missing a beat in her mixing.

“I'm with you when you’re right, boo.”

Together, we laughed and went back to our jobs. Minutes passed, and there was a loud explosion. I turned quickly and looked in the far distance of the woods. The games were starting.

Step one in Rik’s plan was to create a fake explosion that would distract us and leave the townspeople unattended. We didn’t move a muscle. My team knew their orders and the plan. However, the sound of a second blast surprised us. There was another explosion, and this time, monstrous waves crashed onto the land.

Creek stopped DJing and made it to me in seconds. “What’s going on?” she asked.

“I don’t know,” I answered.

We watched for a few seconds as some people were pulled into the water, and others ran. Chaos exploded around us. Newborn vampires sprang from the ocean and ran after the townspeople. However, they were unsuccessful because each so-called townsperson was actually a bounty hunter. With bows launched, my bounty hunters lit the newborns up with arrows blessed in sun oil and poisonous flora. As soon as the poisoned flora hit their bloodstream, the vampires turned into ash. Arrows smacked those newborns just like the arrows in theTroyfilm. They screamed and withered in pain on the sand.

My baby and I spared each other an empathetic look before we raced away to help our crew. Creek zoomed around the beach like Wonder Woman. She kicked ass and took no names. Her face was fierce as she snapped necks and broke their limbs. With ease, I tore the new vampires apart by ripping off their heads and limbs. Rik thought we would really be this careless and allow the townspeople to celebrate when he was on the hunt. Dax and Healani fought side by side as Linx snatched the heart out of a newborn vampire that tried to sneak up on Creek. When the water settled, there were no newborn vampires left. However, before we could celebrate, there was a loud scream. When I turned around, Kai Jr. stood with Rik and had pulled his parents in front of us.

“One false move and I’ll rip their fucking throats out faster than you could blink!” Rik roared. He turned and flashed an evil grin at Creek. “It’s so good to see you, my beautiful daughter. It’s been a long time, but I’m so glad we could have this reunion now.” He chuckled.

“Kai, what the hell are you doing!” Healani shouted. “These are our parents. They have nothing to do with this. They’re innocent!” she yelled.

“Shut the fuck up, bitch. They’re not innocent! Do you know how fucked up it is to hear your own parents taking the sideof this fucking stranger instead of their own flesh and blood? It’s humiliating. They’re always treating me like an outsider and making me feel bad for my shortcomings,” he voiced madly.

“You sound like a fucking child. So, this idiot here is going to give you everything they didn’t. He’s going to make your wildest dreams come true!” Healani shouted back.

“Yes! He gave me immortality,” Kai Jr. responded and flashed his red eyes at us.

Kai Jr. was a new vampire as well. He was that familiar face I saw in Louisiana when we hunted Rik the day of Creek’s tournament. It all made sense now. Kai Jr. was a weak-ass man, and he followed whoever would give him the courage he didn’t have, along with the power he craved.

“I didn’t come here to kill your parents or any of the townspeople, but I will if Creek doesn’t surrender and come with me,” Rik announced.

“You will never get your hands on her,” I told him.

“I second that!” Linx chimed.

“Pierre, is that you?” Rik asked, confused. “I thought I killed you, boy?” he stated, shocked and nonchalantly.

“You did not. But I am going to kill you this time,” Linx voiced.

“In your dreams, boy. You will die by my hands, once and for all,” Rik muttered. Everyone took small steps forward, and Creek ran to the middle.

“No, not this time. I will not lose any more family. Please… let my mom and dad go, and I’ll go with you,” she expressed.

“No, Creek, you can’t!” Mr. Kane shouted. “Parents are supposed to die for their kids.”

“She’s not your fucking child!” Kai Jr. spat.

“Yes, she is! You’re not our child anymore; you are a fucking heartless monster!” Mrs. Kane snapped.

“Creek… don’t do this. I need you, baby. You can’t make this decision,” I begged her.

“I have to, Pryde. I’m the reason all this chaos is going on. If I don’t go, the Kanes will die, and so will the townspeople. I already lost Mommy and Grandma. I won’t lose you guys either. Rik, please let them go, and I’ll come willingly. I swear!” she exclaimed.

“Release them,” Rik directed Kai.

Kai pushed the Kanes to us, Rik quickly pulled Creek to him, and all three super-speed walked away.
