I walked over and kissed her on her forehead.

“It’s okay, MiMi,” I told her, getting the reaction I was looking for.

Whenever I called her MiMi, her mood lightened, and her gaze would instantly become lust-filled.

I winked at her, and she smiled harder.

“You ready to go meet my annoying little sister?”

Jameela let out a chuckle and nodded.

“I already have your bags packed. Everything you’ll need for you and the baby are is squared away,” Ms. Cara said, and walked closer to Jameela. “I even packed you something nice from your top drawer.”

“Ms. Cara!” Jameela squealed.

“What? Don’t you think I know how that adorable little boy got here? Go on and enjoy yourselves… maybe Dr. James’ sister will babysit”

I had to laugh at Ms. Cara. We made it clear that we were only co-parenting during our interview of her, but apparently nothing got past her seasoned eyes.

I grabbed our bags while Jameela strapped Ahmir into the car seat.

“You heard the woman… let’s go.” I smacked her on her ass while she was bent over the car seat.

“Ahmad Saeed James!” Jameela squealed.

A laugh escaped my lips at her reaction.

“Bring ya ass, girl.”

“What if your sister doesn’t like me?”

“Please do not worry about Corin. She is harmless. Plus, once she lays eyes on Ahmir, you and I are going to be invisible… watch.”

The drive to Alexandria was short from Jameela’s Northeast condo. I periodically stroke her thigh to soothe any nervousness she was feeling about meeting someone from my family for the first time.

When we pulled up to my house and I drove up the U-shaped driveway, Jameela’s eyes bulged out of her head, and I couldn’t help but chuckle.

“What? You thought I was some basic ass doctor or something? I run shit. And with that comes certain luxuries.”

I said all of that jokingly, because I didn’t really give a shit about materialistic things. All of the things I’ve spent money on was just because I could.

Regaining her composure, Jameela rolls her eyes. And another chuckle escaped my lips.

“Come on, woman.”

I got out of the car, grabbed Ahmir’s car seat and told her I’d come back for the rest of her things.

The front door to my house opened before we were even up the walkway.

“Omg! Is that my nephew?” Corin asks excitedly.

I exhaled in exasperation.

My sister is so damn extra.

Once we got settled into the house, Corin wasted no time going for Ahmir. I’m surprised Jameela didn’t tell her to back the hell up, because the look in her eyes said she wanted to. However, she reined it in.

Rubbing on her lower back, I gave her a look to silently let her know it was okay.
