“Devin.” His voice goes soft. “Do you really think this is a coincidence? We made it so no one would believe those photos were of you, so instead of ruining your reputation, they tried to ruin you, period.”

“Why would Crystal do this?”

“I wish I knew.” He sighs. “Maybe someone paid her. Or maybe this has been her the whole time.”

A violent shudder rolls through my body and another chill creeps over my skin, giving me goose bumps.

“It’s going to be okay, Devin. I promise you. I won’t let anyone hurt you again.” The way he soothes a bit of my worries and fears has my heart swelling ten times bigger than before. I shoot him a grateful look and a small smile.

“Knock, knock,” a woman says as she pulls back the partition curtain. “I have your discharge papers.” The cheeriness of the nurse’s voice isn’t what I want to hear right now, but I am happy I get to go home.

The nurse goes through the instructions before leaving me with scrubs to change into since what was left of my clothing was bagged for evidence.

“Are you ready to go home?” Sebastian asks, wrapping his arm around my waist.

“I am. Get me the hell out of here.”
