“I’ll be the best kind. I promise,” he kissed my temple.

CHAPTER 18

Nirah

“WHAT DO YOU mean he’s been gone for five days?” Silvia snapped, entering the house.

“On business,” I corrected her, and we made our way up to my bedroom with loads of shopping bags. Silvia decided that today would be a great day to drag me to the mall. Her answer to all our problems was retail therapy. I couldn’t agree more.

“Yeah right,” she scoffed, falling down onto my bed. “You don’t fuck someone, go on a little business trip by yourself and not callortext.”

I dropped my bags beside my bed, plopping onto the single sofa in my room. My head turned toward her and I shrugged my shoulders in defeat. “Apparentlyhedoes.”

“That’s what you get for sleeping with the devil,” she shook her head at me in disappointment.

“He’s not the devil, Silvia,” I groaned and she chuckled.

“Does the devil know how to fuck?” she teased as she got up. “Does he know how totoucha woman?” she whispered and slowly walked over to where I was sitting. “Does he make you scream his name and worship him?” she questioned with a ridiculous smirk.

I threw my pillow at her but she simply hit it away and continued walking towards me in a very creepy manner. “Cut it out!”

“Did he make you do some weird, bloody ritual?” she asked, stopping in front of me. “Did he suck your soul out!” she yelled and started tickling me.

“Silvia!” I reprimanded as my laughter filled the room but she made no effort to stop.

She imitated a deep, spine chilling voice. “Nirah, you’re so sexy. Let me fuck you, Nirah!” she groaned, continuously tickling me. “I wanna make you scream,” she lowered her voice and I couldn’t stop laughing. “Stop!” I laughed, jumping up. “You’re sick,” I shook my head at her, trying to catch my breath.

“You’re getting fucked by the devil,” she grinned while shrugging her shoulders and fell onto the chair I was sitting on. “But, on a serious note; I’m going to kick his ass,” she nodded and I sighed.

I shrugged my shoulders in defeat. “Let it go.”

She seemed reluctant, but thankfully changed the subject. “Well, let’s have some fun then,” she jumped up. “Let’s go for a swim!” she excitedly clapped her hands together. “You can even invite Jordan,” she wiggled her shoulders as she walked up to me.

“Now?” I asked looking outside my window. “And no, I’m not inviting anyone.IncludingJordan. I doubt he even wants to see me,” I said, making her put her hands on her hips.

“Come on,” she whined throwing back her head. “It’s only after five. A late afternoon swim, if you will,” she winked and I pressed my lips into a thin line. “Plus, we all know Jordan can’t stay mad at you to save his life.”

“Fine,” I nodded. “We’ll swim, but I won’t be inviting Jordan.”

“Perfect!” she cheered. Silvia and I got changed into our bikini’s—I borrowed her one of mine—and headed to the indoor pool. She immediately jumped in without hesitation. “Get in here. The water feels so good,” she shrieked as she floated.

I jumped in after her and the two of us enjoyed the water together. After some time we got hungry and I hopped out.

“Miss Nirah?” a male voice said and I turned my head.

A tall brunette with gray eyes. Dressed in a black suit with long legs. He had a clean face and I noticed the one piercing in his left ear. A black cross dangled from it.

“Logan Morales,” he extended his hand towards me. “I’m part of Mr. De Luca’s safety team,” he introduced himself.

“Oh, it’s nice to meet you, Logan,” I shook his hand. “Anything I can help you with?” I asked, walking into the house and he followed me.

“Mr. De Luca asked me to fill in for Cesar for the time being,” he said as I opened the fridge and my body froze.

“Where’s Cesar?” I narrowed my eyes in suspicion.

“He has other business to attend to.”

I pressed on the matter. “Yeah? Like what?”
