“By us,” she says before her body disappears as she zips out of the trailer.
Chuckling, our unit files out of the trailer, the vampires quickly dispatching those with guns while the wolves work toward the unarmed ones. Our first objective is to secure the delivery area and guard it from the hunters inside while the rest of us take them out one by one.
At the same time, we push toward the cells where the vampires and werewolves are being held. Our mission is to release themand bring them to the trailer, ensuring their safe transport to Haven Trail. From there, the vampires will be given blood, and everyone will receive medical treatment until we can find a safe vampire coven or wolf pack they can call home.
Streams of curses and shouts from the hunters being taken down fill the delivery area, while shouts and gunfire from outside reach our ears. It seems the distraction team is having fun.
Racing toward the nearest hunter, I turn my fingers into claws and swipe them across his face. The hunter screams, dropping the knife he was about to stab toward me to clutch the wounds I just caused.
Before he can retaliate, I have already made my way behind him and quickly snapped his neck. The sickening snap is satisfying to my ears. By the time the chaos settles and the rest of the hunters have been taken down, only two remain alive—Marcus and a black male with crisp braids.
“You bitch!” Marcus snaps, his glare fixed on Sabrina. “You fucking betrayed us!”
“No,” Sabrina states, stepping closer to her ex-brother-in-law. “I never betrayed you guys because I never wanted to be a hunter,” Sabrina adds, glaring back at Marcus.
I grin at her bravery as she stands up to her abuser before I turn my attention to the silent man who watches everything around us.
“Who is he?” I ask Sabrina, who looks at the man as well.
“Calvin Kaine, head of security,” she answers, Calvin’s gaze snapping toward her.
“So, you do know my name,” Calvin says, his deep voice so low that it surprises me.
“I know everyone’s name here. It was my job to complete payroll,” Sabrina states before turning back to me. “Do you want me to lead you to the cells?” she asks.
I nod, motioning for two vampires and two of my wolves to hang back and guard the tractor-trailer. Julian and the others are already waiting by the entrance to the building, each of them wearing a satisfied smile.
“Don’t get too smug just yet,” I say as I reach Julian’s side. “We still have an hour and forty minutes to take down the rest of the hunters and rescue the wolves and vampires in the cells,” I say, motioning for Miella to take the lead.
The doors are carefully opened, and after confirming with Sabrina that she is ready, we rush into the building.

Everyone moves as one, slowly creeping down the halls in our human form while Hannah and I give orders. The vampires are fast, zipping into rooms where they sense a beating heart and quickly dispatching the hunters inside. We are ensuring that there are no survivors from tonight unless they are the ones Sabrina listed as the best to question about other hunters’ headquarters around Canada and where the black market for selling the supernatural may be.
“We found Randy Harpin in the last room. Francis is zipping him to the trailer as we speak,” Miella says as soon as she appears in front of Hannah and me.
I nod, gradually getting used to this vampire’s complete disregard for personal space, and thank her for keeping us informed.
Since clearing the delivery area, we’ve seen little direct combat—just occasional screams of hunters being shredded to bits by either a werewolf in wolf form or a vampire zipping through the building. So far, thanks to the efforts of everyone involved in this operation, about a third of the hunters have been eliminated, and three of the seven humans on Sabrina’s list have already been captured and sent outside, where Aileen and Fabian are guarding them.
“How far until we reach the cells?” Miella asks Sabrina, the little human flinching at the sight of Miella’s fangs coated in blood. From what I have gathered, Miella may not enjoy taking blood from a human, but she does relish ripping their throats out with her fangs.
“Just down the next set of stairs,” Sabrina answers, her body shaking. As much as Hannah tried to convince us that this pink-haired vampire was harmless, I don’t think she was able to convince poor Sabrina of that fact.
“Good. Aileen wants me to recruit the vampires in these cells into our coven. She is probably the only vampire who will be able to help rehabilitate them after the abuse they have endured,” Miella says with a sigh, running a hand through her hair. “Oh, Your Majesty, we also need to talk later about me becoming your beta female. Aileen isn’t happy about losing me to your pack, but she understands that since Fabian is my mate, I will be going wherever he goes.”
I nearly trip over my feet at Miella’s request, while Hannah glares at me, warning me to watch my steps so I don’t blow this operation. Miella gives her an amused look until that glare is turned on her, and she sheepishly backs away.
“Behave, Miella,” she warns the vampire as we reach the next staircase.
From what Sabrina told us, this one leads down to the basement where the prisoners are kept. There are two levels to this basement. The first is where those to be sold are kept just barely alive. The second is used to hold those who are kept as sex slaves or for the fighting rings below the basement.
I let out a sharp whistle, stopping everyone in their tracks. Hannah thanks me and makes her way to the middle of the group before she begins to explain the final step of our part of the plan. With the outside of this building being attacked, those in the basement will be on high alert, waiting for the attackers to make their way downstairs. Sabrina had already warned us of this possibility, and we were ready with a plan.
“Miella and Agatha will zip down first. From what we know, the hunters will not be able to sense vampires,” she states, looking at the two vampires whose eyes once again glow red, ready for the hunt.
