“If you want to figure out where you go from here, then all you need to do is find out the answer to one question. Do you still love him?” Chelsea asked.
Did she?
Part of her was terrified to think she might because it left her open to the chance of more pain. Part of her hoped she was because it would make everything going forward so much easier.
How did she figure out which side of the coin her heart lay on?

“Okay, times up,”Micah announced.
Teresa turned her head to throw him a quick glance before refocusing on her laptop. “Just a little longer.”
“No. Not just a little longer. Do you know what time it is?”
She shrugged. “Maybe six or seven?”
“We stopped and had dinner at six,” he reminded her.
“Then seven, I guess.”
“Does it look like seven outside?” Reaching out, he hooked a finger under Teresa’s chin and turned her head again so she could look past him to the window where it was completely dark outside.
“Oh. It’s dark. I guess eight then.”
“And I guess time really does fly when you're having fun,” he teased. “We got home before seven. It’s ten now.”
“I can work for at least another hour then.” Teresa tried to tug her chin out of his grasp, but he tightened his hold slightly.
“You’ve already been working most of the day, and you're still recovering. You need sleep. If you keep going like this, you're going to wind up missing something important because you're too tired to catch everything.”
“I've probably missed something anyway.” She huffed. “We all have. It’s so annoying, we keep going through all the information we have so far, running different checks, focusing on different things, and we still wind up with nothing. I knew these guys were good, but I also know they have to have made a mistake somewhere along the way. Once we find that mistake, we can destroy them.”
“You’ll find that mistake.” Micah believed that with everything he had in him. How could a team of amazing people like Prey’s Cyber Team not find what it took to destroy the trafficking ring? While he was biased and absolutely thought that Teresa was the most talented on her team, he knew they were all talented and hardworking. He’d seen it with his own two eyes over the last few days.
They’d find that mistake, but right now, his job wasn't to push them harder, it was to take care of the woman who owned his heart.
“Come on, time for bed,” he urged, leaning over to close the lid of the laptop that sat on her lap.
With a sigh, Teresa nodded and allowed him to scoop up the laptop and set it aside, then pull her to her feet. “Would you … if it’s not too much trouble … do you think maybe you could …?”
Smoothing a stray lock of hair behind her ear, Micah leaned down to touch a kiss to her forehead. “You can ask me anything you want, pretty girl, and the answer is going to be yes.”
She chuckled. “You should be careful making that promise, I could get creative.”
“Get as creative as you want.”
Another chuckle. “Well, this time I wasn't going to be creative. I was just wondering if you would sleep in my bed tonight?”
“Sleep orsleep?” he asked. Micah was up for either or both, but he never wanted to do anything that made Teresa uncomfortable, so he had to know what she needed from him tonight.
Cheeks bright pink, her gaze skittered away before resolutely returning to meet his. “Both.”
“Go get ready for bed, and I’ll check everything is locked up tight and meet you there.” After pressing another kiss to her forehead, he nudged her in the direction of the bedroom.
Once she was gone, he checked the front door was locked, then all the windows. It would be next to impossible for someone to climb through one of them, but when they were talking about Teresa’s safety, he wasn't going to take any chances. After he’d confirmed they were safely tucked in, he brushed his teeth, stripped out of his clothes, grabbed a bottle of massage oil and a condom, then headed for Teresa’s bedroom.
