Once I replaced the t-shirt and cargo shorts with the expensive threads Selena put together, I was ringing the bell for her to step back in. She did with two of her workers behind her. One carried the glasses of champagne on a tray and the other escorted Striker in by hand with a goofy ass smile on her face. He found himself another one to toy with. I shook my head seeing him add another notch under his belt.
“I must say, you look dashing. How do you like it?” Selena asked.
“I’m fuckin’ with it. My wife is going with me as well, so what would she pair with this?”
She gave me a once over and slightly tilted her head to the side. I saw the wheels turning in her head, so I knew she was cooking up something. A smile graced her lips before asking, “Do you want her in color?”
“I want her in whatever you see her in by my side. This yo’ vision and you know I trust it,” I replied giving her full creative control.
Nodding, she walked away for a brief moment and returned with a royal blue velvet dress on a mannequin body. I see why she was smiling so damn hard. Blue was my favorite color and here she was stepping out with it for my woman. It was something about being catered to that made a nigga feel untouched. Klarity was bad as fuck, too, so seeing her in some shit, I approved… yeah. She was bound to have dick up in her before the night was over.
“All I need is her size and I can make some adjustments.”
“Cool. Where yo’ notepad at so I can write it down?” The girl that was flirting with Striker stepped up and handed over hersinstead. I wrote down My Baby’s measurements from her bust down to her hips. I knew her body from head to toe.
“I’ll work on it while you and Striker try on your pieces. Your next one is over there hanging and Striker’s is on the back wall. I’ll find something to pair with those other pieces for your wife and give you two a minute. Holler if I’m needed.”
She gave us some privacy and Striker started immediately. I figured he was holding something in the way he kept a smile plastered on his face. He was a damn goofball that couldn’t be tamed. I knew he was coming with bullshit.
“Aye, tell me why shawty trying to give it up. I think I’m ‘bout to jump on it, too.”
“You need to stop fuckin’ everything that move nigga. All pussy ain’t good pussy. I don’t know how many times I got to tell you that,” I said shaking my head.
“Worry ‘bout sis’ and stop worrying ‘bout what I’m doing. You ready for this shit tonight? Them folk gon’ expect a big ass speech and shit. You got one for them?”
“I’m not giving no goddamn speech, Striker. I’m going so muthafuckas will know who to answer to, I’m not going to meet and fuckin’ greet a damn soul. That’s for them other muthafuckas to do.”
Putting a face to the name was all that needed to be done. I didn’t have to say a damn thing. Spotlight was gon’ be on me whether I wanted it to or not. After all, I was the head of the table, and it wasn’t anybody in the Springs or surrounding cities that could change who the fuck was in charge. Everything came through me. I was law. Plain and fuckin’ simple.
Klarity didn’t know what kind of nigga she married but then again, she didn’t know she was married, either. She was gon’ find out sooner or later that getting what I wanted wasn’t just about me being spoiled. It was me telling muthafuckas they really couldn’t fuck with me in any shape or form.
“Seem like you and sis’ doing the damn thang. I’m proud of you, boy,” he praised.
“’Preciate it, nigga. I had to scheme and plot, but I got what the fuck I wanted. I got my wife and kids in a matter of weeks and the head of the table. You know I’m feeling undefeated ‘round this muthafucka.” I was boasting ‘cause The Oath tried to take what was naturally mine from me not realizing I was gon’ always end up with the last laugh. Pops should’ve told them ‘bout me.
“I feel it. It’ll find me one day. Aye, I meant to call you last night. We found out who the fuck Walt was referring to when he said some nigga was gon’ put you down. He go by Bentley. You heard of him?”
Shaking my head, I said, “Nah, but I’ll get somebody on it. I ain’t sweating it too much. It was a trial shipment so they ain’t get much product to begin with. Let that broke nigga have it and call it a day. They can’t get no more freebies out of me. Tell them boys to keep an eye to the streets.”
“Oh, they know. I been on they necks ‘bout all that shit. After the ceremony, what you on? We partying with the crew or what?” Striker asked doing his lil’ two step. He was always on the scene ready to get his muthafuckin groove on like he was on Soul Train. That nigga loved to hit his lil’ dancy dance like somebody auntie was telling him to get out there and do it.
“Nah, I’m going home with my wife. I keep telling you we too muthafuckin’ old not to have an old lady.”
“Nigga, I know good and goddamn well you ain’t trying to talk to me ‘bout shit when sis’ don’t even know she legally fuckin’ married. Yeah, Yonnis told me what the fuck you was on. You a sneaky bitch,” he said shaking his head laughing,
“I got to be, fuckin’ with Klarity ass. She don’t give a nigga no leeway to do shit. Aye, you think she gon’ be mad when she findsout?” I asked. I really didn’t give a fuck if she did get upset but still.
“Hell yeah, even though like everybody else, she gives you what the fuck you want. She gon’ cuss you out fa sho’.”
He wasn’t saying shit I ain’t already know. She wasn’t going nowhere though and that was a hunnid percent facts. When it came down to it, me and that woman was locked in. I granted her a life where she didn’t have to think about what came next because she could do whatever the fuck she wanted. If she wanted to ride a damn bike up and down the street all damn day, then she could. I wasn’t making her do anything she didn’t want to. My money was hers and I had enough commas to keep her sitting pretty.
“Yeah, I’m waiting on it,” I said smirking.
For the next hour, I went through the pieces Selena cooked up for me paying for each one and the dresses she paired with them for My Baby. Striker went his way, and I did the same. We would meet up with the gang in a matter of hours anyway.
Mercedees hadn’t really spent time with Klarity since she been focused on opening another shop, but she’d have time with her tonight. She had a lil’ sideways comment when I asked her to do some digging while I was in jail, but she accepted Klarity without hesitation when she seen how serious I was. It was no beef or animosity just no free time to bond. This ceremony granted them that.
I cruised through the city to the crib with light traffic. I wasn’t irritated with too much of anything these days. The Oath backed off after learning I was officially married so that took stress off. The shipments were coming in on time and niggas had sense so that was a weight lifted. Last but not least, my wife and kids were content as hell smiling and enjoying life. I was good with the way life was flowing for me.
