Heather hurried out of Parker’s and over to Livy’s house, hoping she’d be home. She knocked once and went inside, calling out her name.
“In the kitchen.”
Heather hurried to the kitchen, gave Livy a hug, and pulled away.
“What has you so happy this morning?”
“Everything.” She shoved out her hand.
Livy screamed. “Yes. This is the best news ever.”
“I think so.” Heather felt the unending smile stretch across her face.
“We’re getting married in four weeks. On The Destiny.”
“That will be so romantic. Sail at sunset. Get married on the harbor. That really is a great idea.” Livy paused and frowned. “So… are you going to invite your father to the wedding? Will he give you away?”
Heather sank onto a nearby chair. “I hadn’t really given it any thought. I don’t know if I’ll invite him—I sure don’t want to—but he won’t be giving me away. I’m going to have my mom walk me down the aisle.”
“That’s perfect. Fabulous idea. Now we need to plan everything.” She grabbed a pad of paper. “Evelyn will plan the food, of course.”
Heather nodded.
“We need flowers. Oh, and invitations likereallyquick. And a dress. You want to go shopping right now?” Livy jumped up from the table.
She laughed. “Right now? Really?”
“Well, a dress is kind of important. And you have your own style.”
“I was thinking of wearing Grace’s dress. The one your mom had altered and wore for her wedding. It just seems like a family tradition by now. Though, I was thinking of adding a teal ribbon around the waist and wearing teal shoes.”
“A bit of teal, of course. And we’ll get some flowers to match. I think that sounds great. We should go try it on and see if it needs altering. We can get Ruby over on Belle Island to re-alter it if it needs it.”
Livy collapsed on the chair across from her. “I’m just so happy for you.”
“And you’re okay with me getting married before you? I mean, Austin did ask you to marry him first. Before Jesse asked me.”
“Don’t be silly. I don’t care if your wedding is before mine. I’m happy for you. Happy for both of us.” Livy grinned. “And you know what? I’m going to double task. I’m going to pick out invitations and flowers for my wedding while we’re looking for you. See, I’m clever like that.”
She laughed and stood. “Okay, then. What are we waiting for? Let’s go to the florist.”
“Hey, Emily. Wait up.”
Emily turned from closing her locker to see Blake jogging up the hallway to her. She glanced at him and laughed. “So, what’s up? I can tell something is, just from your face.”
“Yes, something is up. Guess what? Jesse asked Heather to marry him and she said yes.”
“He did? That’s fabulous.” Emily twirled around, grinning. “Like great. Really great. Wow, another Parker woman wedding.” She hugged him for a second and stepped back.
“And they are getting married in four weeks.”
“No kidding? Four weeks? Well, I’m sure my mom will help her plan everything.”
“Heather was going to tell Evelyn and Livy first thing this morning.”
“Mom is going to be thrilled. She’s always said that Heather and Jesse were destined for each other.”
“Well, I guess it’s fitting that they are getting married on The Destiny then.”
