“Are you kidding? I can’t think of anything better than you two getting married. Seriously.” He grinned. “And I’ll finally be part of a family again.”

Jesse stood and came over to stand beside them. “Yes, we’ll be a family. There for each other forever.” He wrapped one arm around her, and one around Blake.

“Really, I’m happy for both of you. So when are you getting married?”

“We’re thinking four weeks. We’re getting married on The Destiny.”

“I can’t wait to tell Emily. She’s going to be psyched, too. This is great news.”

“I’m going to tell my mom and Livy tomorrow. You can tell Emily when you see her at school.”

“You bet I will. This is the best news I’ve heard since Jesse said he was going to become my legal guardian.”

“I’m hoping that part goes through soon… but then… I’m hoping that Heather and I can legally adopt you. What do you say to that?”

Blake stared at Jesse. She stared at Jesse. Her heart pounded with excitement at the idea of the adoption. She would officially be Blake’s mother again. The idea filled her with so much joy she could barely breathe.

“Okay, thatis the best news I’ve ever heard. For real, this time.” Blake’s stunned expression slowly slipped into a grin.

And Heather’s heart filled with love for both of these men. For Jesse. For her son. For her soon-to-be family. Tonight would certainly be a night to remember.

Chapter 25

“Mom, you here?” Heather burst into the kitchen of Sea Glass Cafe first thing the next morning.

“Of course.” Her mother turned, a sheet of cinnamon rolls in her hands.

“Go ahead. Put them in.” She nodded toward the oven.

Her mom slipped the rolls into the oven, turned, and wiped her hands on a dishtowel. “What brings you here so early?”

“I have some news.” Heather flung her hand out, showing her the gorgeous ring Jesse had given her. “Jesse and I are getting married.”

“Oh, Heather.” Her mother hurried over and gathered her into her arms. “I’m so happy for you.”

“I’m pretty happy for me, too.”

“Here, let me see the ring better.” Her mom let her go and took her hand. “Oh, it’s so pretty.”

“It is. I just love it.”

“And you’ve told Blake?”

“Yes, last night when he got home from Parker’s.”

“And I bet he’s pleased.”

“He seemed happy about it. And there’s more. Jesse and I are going to start the process to adopt Blake.”

“Heather, that’s wonderful news.”

Heather stared down at her hand, watching the diamond sparkle from the overhead lights. “I can’t believe this is happening. It’s like a dream. I’m getting everything I’ve always wanted.”

“And you deserve it. I hope this makes you very happy.”

“I’m happy, Mom. Very happy.” She pulled her stare from her ring. “And now I have to go find Livy.”

“Run along, then. I’m sure she’ll be excited, too.”
