Something catches Savi’s eye, and she disappears out of sight as she leans down. Standing back up, she has a pink bra dangling from her finger.
“Whose is this? I thought you liked Olivia?” She paces as her face fumes with anger. “What the hell, Miles! Don’t expect me for one second to lie for you. She’s my friend now, and I’m so pissed at you for thinking with your dick instead of your heart. I expected better from you.”
Her eyes burn into me with a fire only Savi can give out.
“Are you done?” I ask calmly.
“No. I really want to yell some more and kick you in the balls,” she huffs, putting her hands on her hips. “Where is she?” She looks around for the owner of the bra. “Is she still here? I bet she’s already left in an Uber that you sograciouslyput them in.”
“I think you’ve said enough,” I tell her, grabbing my t-shirt from the floor and throwing it on.
“Are you done with Olivia then? I really like her. She was good for you,” she pouts.
“I really like you, too,” Olivia says, popping up from behind the bar.
Savi’s eyes go wide as she covers her mouth to stifle a laugh.
“Thanks for having my back,” Olivia smiles. “It’s nice to know you would have kicked him in the balls for me.”
“Anytime,” Savi grins. She notices the bra in her hand and holds it out to Olivia. “This must be yours. I love the pink color and the design.”
“Thanks,” Olivia grins, taking it from her. “I got it at this cute boutique in Chicago. I can send you the link if you want.”
“Well, if you two are done with your girl bonding, can we address the fact that you thought so low of me to think I would do that to Olivia?” I glare at my sister, and she smiles sheepishly.
“I may have jumped to the wrong conclusion too fast. I’mreally sorry. I shouldn’t have assumed you went back to your old habits.”
“For the love of God, this is a completely different situation. I would never take someone to dinner and bring them muffins only to turn around and fuck a complete stranger behind their back. That’s a dick move, and you know I’m not that guy.”
“You brought her muffins?” Savi’s eyes light up, and she turns to Olivia, who nods her head.
“He came over this morning and brought Bee her favorite kind from Lyla’s bakery.”
“Oh my God. That’s the sweetest thing ever.” She lays her hand on her heart and beams at me.
“Yeah, not too bad for a guy who hasold habits,”I mutter. I know I’m probably overreacting, but knowing what Olivia’s ex did to her, and knowing we have a somewhat similar past, I hate feeling like I’m lumped into the same category as him.
Savi’s eyes soften as she comes around the bar and hugs me around the waist.
“I’m really sorry that I thought that of you. I reacted before I really thought it through. I know you would never do something like that to Olivia. You’re too honest a guy for that to happen.” She squeezes me tight, and some of my anger melts away.
“I forgive you,” I sigh. “It’s not like I can be mad at you for very long, anyway.” She looks up and grins, and I have no choice but to smile back. She’s always had a special place in my heart, and she knows it. “Besides, it makes me happy that you would stick up for Olivia like that even though you were dead ass wrong,” I add. “I like knowing she can count on you.”
“Of course she can,” Savi winks at her. “We’re practically besties now after we bonded over our love of wine last night.”
“Yes, we did,” Olivia laughs. “Wait until you see what I talked Miles into getting for opening night. The order just came in, and I’m about to unload the bottles.”
“Ooh, I can’t wait! I’ll help you,” she says excitedly. “Maybe we should try one out while we work,” she grins.
“As long as Miles doesn’t mind us getting into his stash early.” Olivia looks at me with those eyes and dimples, and there’s no way in hell I’m denying her anything.
“The wine is all yours, girls. Just save enough for the paying customers, and I’ll be good. It’s in the back, ready to go.” I walk to the crate sitting on the bar and start taking out the liquor bottles.
“You’re the best,” Savi grins, heading toward the back room.
Olivia walks over and wraps her arms around my waist.
“What’s this for?” I chuckle as my arms automatically hug her back.
