“Where is he anyway? I haven’t seen him since I got here.” She looks around to try to spot him before turning back to me.
“He’s got a bed in my office. Whenever I bring him here, he goes right to it for his usual napping that he loves to do. So…to swing back around to the whole not sharing part,” I say, fixing my pants and stepping closer to her. “Is there anything that you want to add?”
I was hoping that when I offered her that bit of information about myself, she would ease my mind a bit about her situation. I know she doesn’t sleep around because of what she told me about her past, but I hate not knowing if there is someone in the picture that she could possibly be talking to.
“Hmmm,” she taps her lip and looks to be deep in thought. “Nothing I can think of.” Her lip twitches, and my eyes narrow at her.
“Nothing comes to mind? Nothing you want to confess or get off your chest?” God, I feel pathetic. I’ve nevernotbeen in control or felt this vulnerable before.
“Is there somethingyouwould like to ask me?” Her eyes dance with laughter, and I have no doubt she’s letting me squirm a bit.
“You’re enjoying this, aren’t you?”
“Immensely,” she grins. “Is this the first time the elusive Miles Montgomery doesn’t hold the reins?”
“I’m still holding them, honey,” I smirk. “I just want to make sure there’s only two of us on the horse, and nobody needs thrown off.”
“You are really cute when you’re jealou…” I don’t let her finish as I sling her over my shoulder in one movement. “What are you doing?” She shrieks. “Put me down!”
“Not until you tell me what I want to know.” I rub my hand over her bare ass before I smack it.
“Are you spanking me?” Her voice sounds shocked as I rub the red mark that has nicely appeared on her cheek.
“I am, and I’m enjoying itimmensely,” I say, throwing her words back at her before slapping the other one.
“I am too, so your little plan isn’t working.” She wiggles in my arms and juts her ass in the air for more, begging for another round.
“Jesus,” I chuckle. “I should have known you would enjoy it. That’s good to know for future reference. Until then, I guess I will resort to the tried and true of getting information out of someone.”
“Which is?”
“Tickling,” I say, attacking her ribs. She squirms and laughs out loud as my fingers find all the sweet spots. “Goodto know you’re ticklish too,” I grin, “for when I need something else out of you.”
“Miles, stop!” She giggles and tries to get away, but I hold her firmly over my shoulder with one arm.
“All you have to do is tell me what I want to hear, and I’ll stop.”
“Okay, okay,” she laughs. I stop tickling her and grin at my victory. “You are the only one I’m seeing or talking to. No one has even touched me since I met you. I have no desire to even look elsewhere,” she says, out of breath.
My grin gets wider as I set her down. It’s exactly what I wanted to hear, and I feel the tension leave my body.
“Happy now?” She puts her hands on her hips and tries to look mad, but the light in her eyes gives her away. She’s having too much fun with this.
“Very,” I grin widely. “Glad we are on the same page.”
The outside door opens, and sunlight streams in. Olivia is ducking under the bar before I can blink an eye.
I see my sister walk in and I smile. This is going to be fun.
“Hey sis, I didn’t expect you for another hour or two.” My lips twitch when I glance down and see a hand reach out to swipe the thong off the floor.
“My procedure got done earlier than expected,” she says, walking over. “Everything looks amazing.” She looks around before stopping on the other side of the bar. “Ready for opening night?”
“Just about,” I say, crossing my arms across my chest as I sneak a peek at Olivia struggling to get her dress back on. She catches my eye and glares at me. I can’t help the laugh that escapes as I rub my jaw to try and hide it.
“Why are you acting all weird?” Savi asks, peering at me. “And why don’t you have a shirt on?”
“I got hot,” I shrug, trying not to laugh.
