“I’ll be here when you’re ready.” He nods before I turn and walk away. My heart hurting for him or because of him—I can’t tell.
I orderanother glass of wine when the waiter comes back over. I’ll probably regret this in the morning when I’m facing my students, but it’s been a long week of avoiding temptation. I need the relaxation the wine gives me.
We just got done with yoga, and Emma and Bella wanted the latest scoop. Plus, there’s a great band playing tonight atRusty’s, and the girls wanted to check it out and see if we should bring the guys back on Saturday.
“So, how’s the hot dad/hot teacher situation going? Are you still being stubborn and keeping to your rules?” Bella grins at me over her glass of wine. “I’ve got to admit. I thought you would have caved by now. You’ve been at his house four times now and have managed to keep your hands off him.”
“It hasn’t been easy, trust me. Yesterday, he avoided me like the plague. Ever since I asked about Max’s mom, he’s been distant. He barely looked me in the eye and seemed like he couldn’t get me out of the house fast enough when he got home from work.”
“He’s probably just freaking out. You’ve come in like a hurricane and disrupted his little comfort zone that he’s built around himself. He doesn’t know what to do with you,” Emma laughs.
“The feeling is mutual because I don’t know what the hell to do with him either. Part of me wants to run the other way and not risk my job and my heart, and the other part of me wants to wrap myself around him and never let go.” I giggle and then hiccup. Yep, I’m definitely feeling the effects of the wine.
“I say wrap yourself around him.” Bella giggles into her wine, and I grin back at her.
“How much have you two had to drink?” Emma asks, laughing at us both.
“Apparently, not enough to get him out of my head. Maybe I should text him and just ask him what his deal is.” I reach for my phone, and Emma grabs my hand.
“Maybe you should wait until morning when your head is clear.”
“You’re probably right.” She takes her hand off of mine, and I immediately grab my phone and send a text. “But I sent one anyway,” I giggle.
“Oh my God. What did you say?” Emma’s hand flies to her mouth.
Bella takes the phone out of my hand and busts out laughing when she reads it. “You are so going to regret this tomorrow, but tonight, it’s funny as shit.”
“It’s good, isn’t it,” I grin. “That will make him think.”
Emma takes the phone and starts to laugh. “He’s not going to know what to think. You started something now.”
I take the phone back and read my text.
Sophia
Keep the stubble on your face. I like to imagine what it feels like on my inner thighs…marking me.
I grin again at the text. Even reading it has me feeling a certain way as I press my legs together as heat starts to form. I haven’t been able to think of anything else since he’s been wearing it like that lately.
I see three dots appear. “Oh shit, he’s texting back.”
Travis
Are you drunk?
“What’s he saying?” Bella asks, trying to peer over the table at my phone.
“Shhhh. I can’t concentrate.”
I type back a response.
Sophia
Maybe.
Travis
Where are you?
