I wasglad Noah approached me, this had been something I had been putting off for a while. I could smell Ada’s scent on him, it was faint, but my wolf paced in my head, not sure what to do with this. I knew that Ada liked him and saw him as a potential mate, and it was important for us to be on the same page when it came to her. I didn’t want her to worry about us not getting along, that wouldn’t be fair on her.

Noah drove me into Port Willow, “Actually, I could go for a burger.” I let him know. I didn’t want a coffee, I was hungry. Noah agreed and took us to a burger joint. We ordered our meals, it was an awkward silence as we waited for our food. As soon as it came, we took our seats and began to eat.

The tension was strong, you could cut it with a knife. I knew I had to be the one to say something first. He had taken the guts to approach me and ask to talk. Now I needed to man up and speak about this with him.

“So, maybe we should get to know each other? A little better… at least for a start?” Noah nodded; his mouth full with his burger.

“Okay, I’ll go first, I guess. I’m Huxley, you can call me Hux, my friends all do. I’m eighteen, I don’t often drive, so thanks for the lift. Um… I will probably stay on in Rawlins and work for the Alpha. He’s my uncle… we have similar businesses like your pack does. So, that will be after I graduate in a few weeks, and probably still help my dads out in the pizza shop.”

Noah nodded, as he chewed everything down a before taking a drink and clearing his throat.

“I’m Noah, I don’t have a nickname. Everyone just calls me Noah. I’m sixteen but don’t let the number fool you. I’m an old soul. I want to be a game designer, I hope to go to college, but we know how that is. I won’t be working for the pack businesses or security. I don’t really care for that.”

That was different, refreshing. Most members of packs work within their pack’s businesses. That’s why I was going to help out with website designs and tech stuff for the Rawlins online businesses. It was that or security, but I could never do that. But they fact he won’t work at all for his pack was interesting.

“What kind of games you into?” His face light up with a huge smile.

“Mostly Fortnite, COD and I do like to play some Minecraft from time to time. You like gaming?” I laughed… did I like gaming?

“Yeah, man. I might be wolf but I’m still human.” I shook my head as he laughed with me. “I play Fortnite too. Maybe we could play squads together some time. River’s shit, Mason’s good though. I’m pretty average, but its more about fun and spitting shit to each other really. Mostly Mason and I, giving River shit.” He laughed and I felt really relaxed. I didn’t know why I was so tense and worried about this. Noah was good with me. He was cool. Even though he wanted Ada, my wolf wouldn’t mind having him as a packmate. If it came down to it and Ada wanted us both.

“So… The big reason we’re here, or little reason, because she is tiny.” He started and I laughed at him.

“Yeah she is, but with the biggest heart. So, there is that… you’re interested in Ada. I know that, you know I am too.” He laughed. I knew we were going to get along. I was glad Saint had decided to not fight against me. I didn’t think it would be this easy to talk to him.

“If she wants something with you and me, I just wanted you to know I’m really happy with that. You make her happy, Hux. I’m glad you’re going to prom with her, that you asked her. ’Cause I was getting worried for a bit there, that you wouldn’t. But if I was to ask her as well? Would that be okay? I just wanted to see what your feelings were on that if we both took her?”

He ate some fries and raised his brow at me. This was great, open communication. It was great that he was asking me, I should do the same with him.

“Yeah, I freaked out. It’s hard to talk to her, I don’t want to mess anything up so I get all tongue tied. And of course, yeah, if she wants to go with both of us, I would be okay with that. After this—” I waved between us. “— I think this going to work.” He nodded agreeing with me

“I need your number, so we can work stuff out together. I don’t want you to feel like I’m trying to spend more time with her, or the same back to you. So maybe we can work out days that we want to do stuff with her, and then work around each other so we don’t make her feel like she has to say no to one of us. I don’t think Ada would like that. But also, maybe have days when we both do stuff with her?”

Noah smiled. “Sounds perfect, I know she’ll be at the Kiba party Saturday night, and she’s going prom dress shopping Sunday. So I’ll see her Saturday. I hope to ask her to prom then.

“But any day this week, I have nothing planned with her.”

“Have you spoken to Saint?” I thought I would check his plans were still to step aside.

Noah seemed surprised by my question.

“No, I hadn’t really seen him, well until Saturday before the wedding. I’m not sure what he wants with Ada anymore, I think he’s confused. He was such a player and he knows Ada won’t play his games. I’m glad, because she deserves more than that. But also, I don’t think he knows how to be a mate… like it scares him. He isn’t my packmate. I don’t have one.”

Saint wasn’t out of the picture then, that’s okay. Noah and I were on the same page though when it came to Ada.

The fact he liked the same stuff as me and was a good guy, I could tell this would work. Even the fact we were from different packs wasn’t going to get in the way. I could see this. Maybe we would be the start of a different future with the two of us, leading the way to more peace between the packs.
