Fox Wilder is straight.Straight as a pole. He’s not bi, not pan, just a full-blown heterosexual man. What if this is all temporary? What if he wakes up one day and decides I’m not enough? That he doesn’t want me?What if he goes back to Lexi or one of his other perfect blonde girls? The “what ifs” are endless, and they’re driving me insane.
Fox left early this Saturday morning for practice, leaving me alone with my thoughts.Eventually, I couldn’t take it anymore, so I came here. Now, I’m watching the man who keeps me awake at night, missing his presence more than I care to admit.
The coach’s whistle breaks my focus. The players stop, spreading out as they catch their breaths.Blaze looks up and spots me.His eyes widen in surprise, but he smiles back when I give him a small wave. Then he turns to Fox and says something.
Fox’s head snaps up, and his gaze locks onto mine. He’s surprised to see me, and for a moment, he just stares. Then he says something to Blaze before making his way over to me.
The closer he gets, the more I notice. His skin glistens with sweat, his dark brown hair sticking to his forehead, and he looks utterly exhausted. But damn if he isn’t still the most attractive guy I’ve ever seen.
“Hey,” I greet him, trying to sound casual.
“Should I be surprised you’re here, watching me play?”he asks with a small smile.
I laugh softly.“I was bored at home. And… I missed you.”
His smirk grows, and I notice a few of his teammates glancing our way.
“Will you be done soon?”I ask.
He glances over his shoulder at the team before turning back to me.“Yeah.”
“So,” I say, leaning forward slightly, “you wanna go home and make out?”
His eyes widen slightly, and I catch the shift in his expression—surprise giving way to desire. His blue eyes darken, his lips parting as he bites his bottom lip.
Before he can respond, someone calls out, “Wilder!”
Fox turns to the voice, and I see the team captain standing a few feet away, hands on his hips.He looks annoyed.
“Team captain?”I ask, tilting my head curiously.
“Yeah,” Fox mutters.“He’s a dick.”
“And gay,” I add casually.
His brows shoot up.“How’d you know?”
“He’s been staring at me since I got here,” I say, glancing past Fox to catch the captain’s taunting gaze.
Fox chuckles, but I can tell he’s not thrilled.“Give me a minute,” he says with a smirk before heading back to his teammates.
As he walks away, I can’t help but check out his butt. And boy, is it fine.
My phone buzzes in my pocket, and I pull it out to see Landon calling.I answer quickly.
“Lan?”
“Lan?Nicknaming me now?”
“Yeah, whatever, Landon.”I roll my eyes, watching the team huddle around the coach.
“Don’t shit yourself—I like it,” Landon teases.
“What’s up?”I ask, trying not to smile.
“Are you at home?”
“Uh… no.I’m at school.”
