I pressed my thighs together and tried to ignore my overwhelming horniness. But the only thing I could focus on was all the things I could do to Tanner if I could convince him to wear a blindfold during the cake tasting.

No! Stop it, Ash!I’d already tried to rape Dr. Lyons. I didn’t want it to become a pattern. Besides, I already had to keep track of five incidents. I couldn’t imagine having to keep track of any more. I made a mental note to write them all down. Even if they were all nightmarishly unforgettable.

Oh no.Whenever I started thinking aboutthe incidents, something terrible usually happened. I swallowed hard. What unspeakable thing was I about to do to Tanner?

Stalker Problems - Chapter 62 - Highlight of My Life

I looked around for some candles that might accidentally somehow set him on fire. But there weren’t any. Besides, I had my fire extinguisher. I breathed a sigh of relief.

“Have you spent a lot of time in Spain?” I asked to try to distract myself. “Your Spanish was so good.”

“Yeah, I spent a few years there. But I actually learned Spanish when I was living in Argentina.”

“How many places have you lived?”

“A lot. I lived all over when I was young.”

I’d never been able to get a straight answer about his childhood. But by my count he’d mentioned living in at least ten different places. “Was your dad in the military or something?”

“He was.”

“What branch?”

“The royal guard.” Tanner looked away and straightened his utensils.

“So he was British?”

“Don’t insult the British like that. What’s taking so long? I better go check to see if Santiago fell asleep back there.” He got up and walked over to the kitchen.

I tried to think over what I’d just said that agitated Tanner enough to excuse himself from the table. His father was part of the royal guard. But not the British one? I was so confused. What other royal guard was there? Maybe he was just saying his dad was a dick. In which case…what did his dad do to piss him off so much? Maybe he was the one who turned Tanner into a vampire…

Speaking of which, this was the perfect opportunity to text Chastity and tell her where I was. That way they’d at least find my body to give me a proper burial if Tanner decided to suck my blood.

Me: Tanner took me to Santiago’s! I think you might be right about him being a vampire. Please call the police if I’m not home by midnight.

Chastity: Did he try to bite you?!

I was about to text her back when Tanner reemerged from the kitchen.

He cleared his throat and sat down next to me. “Santiago will be out in just a moment.”

“Can I get one more question?”

He pulled his eyebrows together. “That depends on what you’re going to ask.”

I smiled. He really didn’t like when I asked him personal questions. “Doesn’t that kinda defeat the purpose?”

“Fair point.” He rubbed the side of his jaw as he stared at me. “Hit me with one more.”

I needed to word this one better. And there were even more options now.Why do you hate your dad? Was he British or not? What other royal guard was there? Are you a vampire?Screw all the rest of it. The vampire thing was the most important question and I’d flubbed it last time. This time I’d just get proof. “Show me your teeth.”

“Excuse me?”

“You heard me, buddy. Let’s see those chompers.”

He laughed. “That’s not a question, Ash.”
