Tristan was trying not to laugh, probablyafraid he’d encourage the insanity, but it wasn’t working. “Sit.”
Smiling sweetly as everyone giggled, Iobeyed and was rewarded with food. As Austin started to open his mouth, Tristanshook his head. “Nope, you do not get food when you show up at a ridiculoushour.”
Sighing dramatically, Austin parked himselfnext to me and gave my potatoes puppy dog eyes. A lesser omega might havefallen for it, but I just threatened to stab him with my fork. He winked at meand backed off just enough to make me consider relaxing my guard.
“I’m happy. He’s happy.” I thought aboutwhat else to say as I ate another bite of his orgasmically wonderful potatoes.I wasn’t going to ask what made them so good because then he might want toactually teach me to cook, but I savored the taste anyway.
“Our date went well and I think our waiterwas in the lifestyle, so we might want to have Eddie check him out for theclub.” And that led to another thought. “And Tristan had a fun idea about themenights occasionally, like playing naughty waiters and wicked customers at arestaurant.”
I thought I’d explained everything fairly well, but they just stared at me. “What?”
Tanner rolled his eyes and headed for thecoffee pot. “If you think that’s enough to make us go away, you’ve sleptthrough too many parties at Wade’s house.”
That had Wade smiling. It would have lookedsweet and innocent to anyone who didn’t know him well enough.
Tristan laughed. “And that’s my cue to gograb a shower.”
“And leave me to these heathens?” He wasevil.
He just laughed again as he grabbed his mugof coffee and headed back toward the staircase. Since I’d been abandoned, Iturned toward my plate to start eating again just in time to see Austinstealing a potato. He squeaked and jumped up from the table as I waved my forkin his direction.
“I am running on very little sleep and youguys stopped me from getting morning sex. Don’t push me.” I thought I’d donepsychotic and sleepy quite well, but they just giggled.
“So how did it go?” Wade pushed away fromthe counter he’d been leaning against and sat down at the table. Since hedidn’t seem like the type to steal my food, I shrugged and started eatingagain.
As I swallowed, I looked up. “It was good.Honest. We’ve had our rockets and fireworks moments but this was comfortableand nice. I liked that. We…we had a nice time talking and just hanging out.”
“Then you came home and he fucked you intothe mattress?” Austin leaned forward eagerly. “Because you’re looking forboth…not just one or the other.”
“Oh yes.” I grinned. “He’s got a wonderfulimagination.”
And that led to another topic we probablyneeded to discuss.
With Tristan working so much, they weregoing to get curious sooner or later. Mentally sighing, I wished for a momenthe hadn’t left the room so quickly. But it was probably for the best. This wassomething I had to do on my own.
He could comfort me later if they losttheir marbles.
Austin giggled. “I bet you helped with thatimagination part.”
Oh boy.
“Um, yeah…well…” I looked down at my mugand saw it was nearly empty. Getting up from the table to refill my coffee gaveme an excuse not to have to look at everyone, so I gladly grabbed at thedistraction.
I took my time heading over to the coffeepot while they watched my nervous behavior curiously. “So there’s something Ineed to confess.”
I saw Jonah look up to the sky like he waspraying to some old-fashioned god. “Please let it be he’s an alien or that hewon the lottery.”
Laughter bubbled around the room. “Nope onboth counts.”
But I appreciated the help breaking thetension.
“Actually, I wanted to tell you about thereal reason Tristan is here.” I took a breath and Jonah eagerly jumped inagain.
“He’s an alien?” His face was so excitedand animated I hated to tell him no.
“Nope. He really is my assistant, but thestuff I’ve gotten behind on and need help with is about another pen name I’vebeen working on.”
They were so silent, I peeked over as Idoctored my coffee. Curiously blank expressions stared back at me.
