Simon nodded. “I will not deny that.”
Shane rolled his eyes. “This is not what wecame in here for.”
Now I was even more curious. “What’s up?”
They both turned back to me, but it wasSimon who spoke. “What has Dakota told you about tonight?”
Interesting.
“That he’s going out with the guys, as hecalls them, which seems to mean his core group of friends and not you guys, andthat they’re going to hang out and just goof off.” He’d tried to claim thatthey were going to talk about the club, but I had a feeling that meant theywere going to talk about all the fabulous things they would do at the club andnot the actual work itself.
They snorted in unison.
As I smiled, Shane spoke. “They’re going toget drunk.”
Simon laughed. “Like furniture moving, landon the floor, drunk as a skunk drunk.”
This just kept getting better.
“I honestly can’t imagine him drunk.” Ishifted and looked through the door to see Dakota at the table but not paying adamned bit of attention judging by the look on his face. “He’s going to needhis notebook soon.”
That had them chuckling, but I shrugged.“So what do they do while drunk?”
Was this their way of telling me that theywere going to have some kind of orgy? Dakota and I needed to lay down someground rules if that was the plan.
Simon’s grin was wicked, but Shane seemednaively confused.
Focusing on Simon, I raised one eyebrow.
He chuckled. “It’s not what you'reimagining, unfortunately. They really do just hang out and drink. Last timethey got into moonshine and that was a nightmare. But they’ve been told no moremoonshine, so they should be happy drunks this time.”
Oh, there was definitely a story there.
“What kind of drunk is Dakota?” I justcouldn’t picture him as argumentative or angry.
“Distracted.” Shane rolled his eyes. “Ifyou think he’s distracted normally, that’s nothing when he’s drunk. Hegenerally just hunches over his notebook.”
That sounded familiar.
Simon laughed. “Last time he was using oneof Wade’s cloth napkins.”
Grinning, I nodded. “Now, that I canimagine.”
“We were sent as representatives of thealphas in this fascinating family.” Simon shot his brother a dirty look. “Sinceno one thought to warn me. It’s been decided that every new member needs Wade’saddress and the phone number of at least one Dom in case of a drunk emergency.”
What had they done on the moonshine?
“I appreciate that.” Thinking through whathe’d said, I had another question. “How do they get home from Wade’s?”
The laughter made it clear Dakota and I hadmore chatting to do about his evening.
Chapter 11
Dakota
What if instead of having him be a Dom whogets off on pain like Simon, I had him be a sub and the Dom is tattooing him…Itwouldn’t be as impactful, but—
“Stop that.” Austin’s shrill tone snappedme out of my planning and I barely dodged the pillow that came flying at myhead. “We’re talking.”
