As I texted him, I smiled, glad Lane couldn’t get in trouble since it was me who was asking. When I hit the send button, I set the phone down and started eating the nachos again. “Don’t forget to eat. That will make Eli happy.”
Lane sighed. “I don’t want to eat. He’s just trying to get us sober.”
“We’re drunk?” Shoot.
Lane nodded. “Probably.”
He seemed sad, so I tried to give him a hug. “They were very good drinks, though.”
Sitting up again was hard, so Lane was helping me as Eli came back over. “What are you two doing?”
“Helping.” Lane snorted.
I smiled as I finally got upright again. “He needed a hug.”
Eli seemed very suspicious as he sat down. When he saw my phone, his eyes got so wide they looked like a cartoon. “What did you do with the phone, Casey?”
I finished licking cheese off my fingers. “I texted Preston to see if he’s my boyfriend so Lane wouldn’t get in trouble.”
“Oh my god. I’m a dead man.” Eli’s head hit the table as his phone started to ring. “Shit.”
I glanced over at Lane who just shrugged, clearly not sure what the problem was either. Eli’s head came up, and he dug into his pocket for his phone. When he sighed and slouched down, I tried to see who was calling. “Is it a telemarketer? Those people just don’t stop calling. You might as well answer it so they go away.”
Lane gave Eli a nod as the phone finally stopped ringing. “Yes, I have someone who keeps calling and trying to do something with my student loans, but I don’t have any. They don’t seem to understand. Are they trying to help you with student loans too?”
Eli groaned and picked up the phone when it started to ring again. We watched as he swiped his finger across the screen and answered it. “It’s not my fault. Honest.”
I couldn’t tell who he was talking to until he sighed again. “But, Preston—”
Oh. Smiling, I leaned over the table so I could talk into the phone too. “Preston! You didn’t tell me if you were my boyfriend or not.”
Eli’s head hit the table again. “Okay. Okay. I know. Dead man. I know.”
As he hung up the phone, shaking his head, he looked at us. “Your boyfriends will be here in a minute.”
My smile was so big it made my cheeks hurt. “He said he’s my boyfriend?”
Eli sighed. “Yeah, that’s one of the things he said.”
I had a boyfriend. It was the best night ever.
You guys can’t be serious about the picture thing. You guys know how shy I am and how private. I’m not worried about losing my job over the blog because I’m careful about posting pictures and things like my name here, but can you imagine how insane work would get if my nearly naked ass was all over the internet?!?!
They’d never let me live it down!
So no pictures, but I’ll tell you this. I bought a NIGHTGOWN! It’s cute but drafty so I’m going to try something with pants next time (and no that’s not a dick joke).
Six months until first date
