“Say that again,” he demanded huskily as I noticed the vein in his neck throbbing.
“Wha—”
Evan didn’t allow me to finish, clamping his mouth onto mine as I fell back onto the sofa, my legs wrapped around him. I felt dizzy when he stroked my cheek whilst kissing me slowly, making me moan against him.
“You’re not marrying him?” Evan said as he broke away, his fingers trailing down my bare arm as I shivered.
Being this close to Evan was a battle I would never win- no matter what, my brain screamed at every part of my body, my soul danced with his regardless.
I realised that I absolutely couldn’t marry Julian or anyone else. I couldn’t deny the way I felt, but I was terrified of the consequences.
“Jesus. I can see your mind working through your eyes. If it helps, I wouldn’t have ever let you marry him,” Evan whispered, and I swear my ears crackled with the fireworks exploding within me.
“You wouldn’t?” I squeaked out as he lifted my hand to gaze at the ring.
“No, because then we would have been having a lifelong illicit affair, and that wouldn’t have been fair on anyone.”
I followed his eyes before I reached over and slid the engagement ring off. Evan kissed me again, and I felt the ring slip from my fingers and land on the floor beneath us, but I was beyond caring. All I knew was that Evan was the air that I needed to breathe, and the rest could be dealt with later.
Right now, I had to deal with him.
Evan
Ifelt I had existed as a ghost, merely repeating the same mundane actions day after day, whilst getting nowhere.
When Jain told me she wasn’t marrying Julian anymore, her lips parted slightly, and she looked at me so desperately that I couldn’t help myself. I slammed my lips down against hers, claiming her as mine as she moaned against me for the second time that evening. It was as though something had taken over, and I had no option but to devour her.
I didn’t need to convince her either. She virtually stripped off before I could loosen my buckle, standing there in just her underwear, her eyes scanning my body hungrily. I took my time, unbuttoning my shirt whilst gazing at her.
“Jain, look at me,” I whispered, letting my shirt fall to the floor as she groaned, dragging her fingers over my chest, biting her lip whilst she walked closer to me. Her delicious dark hair fell in waves around her shoulders, and my fingers lost themselves in it happily.
“I’m struggling to look at you. You’re beautiful. I’m definitely going to hell,” I mumbled, lost in her atmosphere.
“Yeah? I’ll be there with you then.” Jain sighed, looking up at me.
I pulled her against me, the lace of her bra brushing against my chest. My fingers danced over her back as our lips hovered dangerously close to one another, our eyes locked in a private conversation only they could hear.
I can’t believe she still has this effect on me.
When she wrapped her arms around my neck, her nails teased the skin beneath them, making me inhale sharply.
“Part of me doesn’t want to do this,” I admitted as she whipped her head back to stare at me with fury.
“What?”
I smiled sadly, twirling a strand of her hair around my finger as I gazed at it.
“I’m scared you will leave straight after, and I don’t want you to.”
“I’ll have to leave, but only to come back again. You know that, right?”
Immediately I felt protective, and I tilted her chin back to see the worry in her eyes.
“I’ll come with you.”
“No, that’s not fair. I’ll tell Julian myself. He deserves that much.”
I leaned forward, kissing her softly as she wrapped her arms back around me. Nothing else mattered when she was in my arms, and the rest of the world could genuinely go and fuck itself. My fingers unclasped her bra before helping her out of it, my thumb caressing the soft flesh of her nipples. Instantly they hardened, and I chuckled.
