"Because he's supposed to have my back no matter what.” I snapped as she rolled her eyes. She didn't argue, though; she wasn't that much of a friend. My real close friends were either traveling the world, or all loved up, and here I was. Stuck in a club with someone I knew socially. "Anyway, fuck it. Let's dance."

She nodded as she grabbed her purse, weaving onto the dance floor, her hand in mine as she pulled me along behind her. I thought my worries would drain away the more I drank, but they didn't. I shouted to Rachel that I needed the bathroom to find her locking lips with some heavenly man she had found on the dancefloor.

"Alice Fallon! Fuck me; it's been a while." I heard a voice yell as I turned to see Charlie Stone standing behind me.

I watched his gaze travel up and down my body as he walked over to me, a tight white t-shirt showing his toned body. He was the bad boy from my school, and I knew he'd always had a thing for me. I'd never been interested because I just didn't find him that attractive.

Tonight though, I was open to suggestions.

"Charlie. How are you doing?"

"Yeah, good. Better for seeing you."

He stood in front of me, leaning in closely to talk to me over the music as I stiffened when he slid his hand around my waist.

"Damn, you look good enough to eat, Alice."

Suddenly my mouth was dry, and the room started to spin- a clear indication that I was drunk.

"I need to pee," I stammered out as he chuckled, moving his hand to my ass.

"Come back to me when you're done, Fallon. We have things to discuss.” Charlie smirked, squeezing my ass tightly.

Ordinarily, I'd have smacked the dick, but I decided to let it slide. My ego needed massaging.

I smiled as he tugged me close to him, the stench of cigarettes wafting around me as I tried not to hurl. He pressed his lips on mine and slid his tongue into my mouth, his hands running over my body as I kissed him back.

Any minute now. I'd feel the fireworks. The butterflies.

Nothing.

I pulled away from him as he shook his head at me.

"That's just a taster baby, hurry back."

I turned around, groaning.

The queue for the restrooms was ridiculous. I sighed, pulling out my phone as I scrolled through the contacts. There he was.

Lucas.

My finger hovered over the name as though stroking it would somehow make this all better. You can lie to many people, but you can't lie to yourself.

God, I missed him.

Zane was wrong about one thing. I didn't want Gabe. I probably did feel insecure about Summer, but I hated Lucas looking at anyone else.

Too late. Bet he was already ball deep in one of the many bitches that demanded his dick. I swiped my phone off before folding my arms. Maybe I'd text him. Just to see if he was ok. I went to slide my phone open when I saw that a call was in place to Lucas.

What?! The timer was on screen, showing that he had been on the other end for six seconds.

"Hello?" I murmured, realizing how much effort it was taking to speak properly.

That bottle of vodka before we came out probably wasn't the brightest idea. My heart pounded in my chest when I heard Lucas sigh.

"Alice? What do you want?" His voice snapped, making me giggle.

"Must've misdialled you, whoops. Hope I'm not interrupting anything."
