"Nah, you would, given the opportunity. It's sickening. I thought you'd have outgrown this shit by now. Lucas is right; you need to grow the fuck up."
I was done being polite.
Alice was all about ruining everything she had, and I would be expected to pick up the pieces.
"I'm sorry I'm not as perfect as you," Alice spat as I stood up.
"That's it, Alice, attack the one person who has your back. You create your drama, then complain about it. You're selfish and fucking immature."
I opened the door, hearing her sob as I walked out.
I was beyond caring.
I walked down the stairs to see my parents staring at me in disbelief.
"She's a fucking child. Stop treating her with kid gloves.” I snapped, annoyed with constantly being called to soothe Alice, their angel.
The door opened, and Caleb beamed at us before taking in the scene.
"What now?"
"Let Caleb see her next. He has always been right about her. Don't sugarcoat anything, Caleb."
I pushed past them and heard my mom run after me.
"Zane, wait."
As always, my mother could stop me in my tracks, no matter my emotional state.
"I'm sorry we asked you to come over. We were just so worried."
"You should be. Worried about the way she is. If she loses him, she will never be the same again."
My mom stared at the floor as she chewed on her lip. Her eyes were tired, her skin pale.
"Would you speak to him?"
"Lucas? Are you out of your mind?"
"He's a dangerous man...I don't want him to do anything stupid."
"Mom. Let it be. She will have to learn the hard way, for once."
I kissed her head as I walked away, pausing when I saw Summer pull up in her little car. She smiled widely, waving at me as I sighed. I didn't want to have the conversation with Summer; it would kill her to know how much Alice detested her. I got on my bike, pulling my helmet on as she frowned at me in confusion.
I shook my head as I started the engine up before speeding away.
My family was officially insane.

ALICE
I did what I always did when I felt like this- I got drunk.
I called my girl Rachel, and we hit the town. I was so intent on riding that train to oblivion that I was hammering the shots early doors. I was fucking angry with everyone in my family, especially Zane.
"How are you mad with him? He's too beautiful to be mad with," sighed Rachel, grimacing as she downed her fourth shot of the evening. Since I'd left school, Rachel had been my party friend, supplying me with a fake ID that she stole from her sister so we could get into the best clubs.
