I'd done my research on him, and boy was he not to be fucked with. Trust me to fall for the damn daughter of a New York mobster. Not just any- fucking Leonardo Cape. I know he was tied in with the Salvatores- the head of which was a nasty fucker if I ever heard of one.
Michael Salvatore.
I'd only met him once, but I was unfortunate enough to be wet behind the ears, watching as he gutted a man alive for daring to disagree with him about sports, of all matters. My father highly respected him and told me never to cross his path unless it was to give him the information he needed.
Leonardo Cape was the only man I knew that had challenged him and lived to tell the tale. The rumor was that Leo had been in love with Michael's little sister Lucia. She'd been attacked and Leo had something to do with it. Apparently, Lucia had arranged to have Gretchen, Leo's wife, kidnapped. Leo got her back, but Michael had quite the soft spot for her.
I'd made it my business to know everything Leonardo was involved in- and it seemed since he had got older he had relaxed into a simple life, leaving the mob behind.
The thing is, the mob never leaves you.
The only thing to bring him back would be his family.
So when that stupid fat fuck Andre decided to insult me; he had also fucked off one of the most notorious gangsters the state had ever seen. I knew he would come, but he wouldn't get there faster than me.
I tried to shake the scene from my mind, the image of him trying to force Alice to open her legs for him.
My heart had ached when I heard him say he was tired of fucking her mouth- and wanted to fuck her properly.
I barely remember my actions next, but I know I tried to save her from seeing it.
I had great pleasure in making that cunt swallow his rabid cock.
I wanted to beat him until there was nothing left- but I had no option but to go back to Alice.
The fire was gone from her eyes, sadness there that I had never seen before. I knew then that I couldn't ever put her in that position again.
If people knew she was important to me, she became a target.
The only problem I had was the fact that she was more than just important to me.
I had fallen in love with her, and the only other person that knew was her father.
Leonardo Cape.

ALICE
I’d slept a lot.
Despite insisting I was okay, Mom and Dad refused to listen, flying me away to some remote log cabin in the middle of fucking nowhere. I heard my door open, and Dad walked in, leaning against the door as he studied me.
“I know that bastard did things to you, and I want you to know that it’s okay to feel scared. But he’sgone, baby. I need you to feel safe.” His voice broke as I turned to him, pulling my legs up to my chin.
“It was horrible, Dad, but I’m okay. Really. Lucas made sure he won’t ever do it to anyone again...” My voice swelled with pain when I mentioned his name, the thought of him out in Italy searching for a wife made my stomach clench with agony.
He’d left without saying goodbye, and I knew why. He thought he was protecting me. But in fact, he was slowly killing me.
“Lucas is doing the right thing, sweetheart. You don’t belong in his world—”
“Your world, too, right?” I shot back as he stared at me wordlessly.
His expression hardened before he sank onto the bed at my feet, turning to gaze at me.
“Yeah. But that doesn’t mean I wantyouin it. You need to forget about him. Move on with your life. Go traveling with Zane—I’ll pay for both of you—”
“Dad!You can’t throw money at every situation!”
