I wasn't going to lie. "I don't know. Maybe. I guess it depends."

"Oh what?" she asked.

"On him and me, where our lives go. But for now it's working, and I'm not looking to change it if that's what you're asking."

She looked insulted at the suggestion. "No, of course not. That'snotwhat I'm getting at. I really like him, not that my opinion matters. I'm just saying, I can see where it would be nice."

"Not always," I admitted. "Sure, we've had our moments, but that's family, right?"

"Boy, isn'tthattrue," she said, looking like she'd had plenty of experience in that department. "But wait a minute…back up." She cocked her head to the side. "Did you say that your grandpa gave Cash a new name?"

"Yeah," I chuckled. "His name wasn't Cash when I left."

"So, whatwasit?"

"Tank."

Her eyebrows furrowed. "You're kidding."

"Hey,Ididn't name him," I laughed. "He was a rescue from the Humane Society. If you want the truth, I don't thinkheliked the name much either."

"I can see why." She glanced toward the dog in question. "Tank isn'tsobad. It just doesn't fithim, you know?"

"Oh,Iknow," I said. "Anyway, while I’m gone, Gramps starts calling him Cash to go with Tango, and there you have it."

"Hold up," she said. "To go with Tango? I'm not following."

"It's this old action movie my grandpa likes. "You know. Tango and Cash?"

Gwen's forehead creased, but then her expression cleared. "Wait…Sylvester Stallone. And Kurt Russel? Am I right?"

I nodded. "That's the one."

She gave a playful groan. "That movie wassocheesy."

"Nothing wrong with cheese," I said. "And hey, Cash likes it."

"Do you mean he likes the name? Or the movie?"

"Both," I said. "About the name, he neverdidanswer to Tank. And about the movie, he and Gramps watch it at least once a year."

She snickered. "What about Tango? Doesn'thelike to watch it?"

"Hard to say. Usually, he's pretty focused on the remote."

"How so?"

"He likes pushing it off the armchair. Drives my grandpa nuts."

Gwen laughed. "Yeah, and I bet he loves every minute of it."

I smiled. "That's not whathe'lltell you. But yeah, he probably does. And you know what?"

"What?"

"It'syourturn to get talking."
