So, I padded over to the door that led to the garage and opened it quietly.
The gigantic grizzly was sitting on his pile of pillows and blankets. His head was less than a foot from the door.
A relieved breath escaped me, and Bo’s head lifted lazily. He studied me.
“I thought you might’ve gone outside or something. There’s another storm,” I explained.
His tongue slipped out long enough to lick my ankle lightly, telling me he was fine.
I definitely hadn’t expected the lick, but considering we were shifters, it wasn’t that odd.
It was kind of intimate, though.
Especially after he’d made it clear that he was attracted to me.
“It’s cold out here. You should sleep in your bed,” I added.
He lowered his head back down and closed his eyes.
Clearly, he wasn’t interested.
That was fine.
I went back inside and over to the couch, slipping beneath the already-warm blankets. Though I tried to go to sleep, guilt nagged at my conscious.
Despite my past issues with Bo, he had been better since he found me in the forest. He’d given me a place to sleep, fed me, and helped me get out through the window so I could try to make a run for it.
Sure, he had also grabbed my hips and gotten all close and personal.
And jerked off to my scent.
And told me he’d been attracted to me since we were kids.
I was just going to ignore those last few facts. Ultimately, he had been nice to me.
Now he was sleeping in the garage to give me privacy.
That made me feel like the world’s biggest bitch.
Considering we’d be trapped together at least another day or two, my conscience made me reluctantly climb back out of my couch-bed.
I crossed the living room again. After a moment of debate, I stripped my clothes off and pulled the door open. Shifting smoothly, I slipped through the opening and stepped into the garage on four paws.
Bo blinked at me with sleepy eyes.
I plopped down on the worn welcome mat.
Bo blinked again. Then his eyes narrowed.
The bear was on his paws a moment later. His huge arms were around my middle a moment after that, his thick muscles and smooth skin pressing against my furry stomach as he shifted to his human form.
I snapped my teeth at his arm as he stepped into the house. He carried me easily, like I was a stuffed toy and he was an uninterested kid.
“You’re not sleeping in my garage, Madi.” His voice was rough, but completely and utterly flat.
He wasn’t willing to debate this.
Neither was I.
