“I don’t care what was said here. Iwillkill you, Maddox, and I’m going to make it slow and painful too. So sleep with one eye open.” A taunting grin formed on Cashlynn’s face before she spat on the ground then turned and stormed out.

Neil was yelling violently while applying pressure to his son’s wound. I should be pissed off but all I was thinking about was burying my dick in Cashlynn until she was a crying mess, calling my name out over and over. I pictured filling her walls with my cum and watching it drip out of her.

Not bothering to say any more, I turned and followed Cashlynn with my men behind me. I wasn’t worried about the Rhodes doing anything. They’d be dead before they could even lift a finger. I didn’t see her, but I guessed she was in the back of the truck already.

Devin nodded at me and opened the car door when I approached. I climbed inside and Cashlynn sat there seething, her foot tapping rapidly and arms crossed.

Both front doors opened and Devin got behind the wheel while Jackson climbed in the passenger seat.

“To my parents’ house,” I said, then hit a button when the car was on. I had this truck modified for when I wanted privacy. A dark window lifted, separating us from the front.

Cashlynn spun to face me. “If you ever blindside me like that again and put me in the same room as that man, I’ll?—”

I moved over, crowding her, causing her words to halt.

“You’ll what?” I asked in a low, sultry tone. Reaching forward, I brushed my hand over her collar. I traced the front of her body, moving my hand down until I was cuffing her breast.

“I’ll make sure he isn’t the only one with a bullet in him.”

One corner of my mouth kicked up.

“Oh Wildfire, out of all the things in the world, that’s the last thing I’m worried about.” I moved my face closer to hers. Her breathing picked up and her eyes faltered.

I massaged her breast and moved in, lightly brushing my lips against hers. It was hot as fuck seeing her with the gun and how fearless had been when she pulled the trigger. It made me realize though, there were deeper issues between her and Maddox.

“I wanna know what’s the beef between you two.” I pecked her lips again. It didn’t sit right with me that my wife had an enemy and I had no idea why.

My wife.

Inwardly, I snorted. The comfort I had with that term so soon amazed me.

“It’s none of your concern.” Her voice was breathy and her chest rose and fell quickly.

She gasped when my hold on her breast grew rougher. My other hand went to the metal heart hanging from her collar.

“That’s where you’re wrong, Wildfire. Everything about you is my concern.” I leaned in and brushed my nose against her face. Her body froze. “Any enemy you have becomes mine.” It also bothered me that she had such high emotions toward someone who wasn’t me. It didn’t matter that it was hatred, it was strong enough for her tofeelsomething for him. That didn’t sit right with me. “So tell me why you hate that man so bad. Did he cheat on you?” I kissed her cheek. “I know it wasn’t because he didn’t fuck you right. Were you upset because of that?”

She grabbed my wrist and dug her nails into it. “No.”

Pulling back, I studied her face, blank with underlying coldness in her eyes. I released her breast, but kept my hand on the collar.

“So tell me what happened. What did he do?”

“He tried to sexually assault my brother,” she blurted out, causing me to freeze.

“What?” This time I released her completely.

Her hands balled into fists and her body straightened. She stared forward at the glass privacy window. “After everything that happened with my parents, me and my brother went to stay with Maddox until I could figure out our next move.” Her tone was emotionless, almost robotic. “I was on my way to my brother’s room when I heard a slap, then the sound of crying and someone murmuring. I rushed into the room and saw Maddox cornering my brother with his pants down. Carson was on his knees, holding his face and crying. I blacked out and saw red. I pulled my knife out and next thing I knew we were rushing out of the house.”

Slowly Cashlynn turned to face me. Her eyes were cold and lifeless. “My brother is the most important person in my life, Nazai. He’s the only person I give a fuck about. If anyone tries to harm him, Iwilleliminate them and not think of the consequences.”

That was the last thing I expected Cashlynn to confess. Nothing in the world disgusted me more than child predators. Now it made sense why Cashlynn wanted Maddox’s head. He deserved way worse than gunshot and knife wounds.

CHAPTER 16

CASHLYNN

“Hey bud, want to go in there?” I pointed to the video game store. With everything going on, I felt like I’d been neglecting him. After seeing Maddox and rehashing the memory of him trying to assault my brother, I knew Carson and I needed to spend time together one on one. We ignored the fact that Bruce and James were trailing in the rear and went in and out of stores. My brother was into computers and coding so I made sure to grab him a new laptop while we were out too.
