“What is this? I thought we were going to get my brother,” Cashlynn complained, looking around the abandoned area. We weren’t at the meeting place the family used for obvious reasons, but this one was just as secluded.

“We’ll go grab him after this.” I looked over at Jackson and nodded when we got to the door. With his gun drawn, he stepped in the door first and looked around. Turning toward me, he nodded. I made sure him, Luke, Bruce, and James met us here and were on guard.

“I didn’t agree to any detours.”

“This one is necessary. Let’s go.”

Cashlynn mugged me and stomped forward.

“What the fuck is this?” she shouted.

Shit.

I rushed into the building and saw Jackson restraining Cashlynn who had a gun in hand and struggled to break loose.

Anger traveled up into my chest. “Get your hands off my wife,” I demanded with narrowed eyes.

Jackson quickly released her. Cashlynn spun around with fire burning in her eyes. “Why the hell is he here?” I eyed the gun.

I wasn’t sure where she’d gotten it from. I had taken the one from the night she snuck in the house. Also, I remembered the day I found her in my bathroom she also had a gun in her bag. I had confiscated it and hadn’t given it back, so it made me wonder how many she had in her possession.

Stepping toward her, I didn’t flinch as she held the gun out. The barrel pressed against my chest as I stared down at her. She glared at me with burning, stormy eyes. Her jaw clenched.

“Do you think this is a joke?” Her finger twitched on the trigger. By the look in her eyes, I could tell she was seconds from pulling the trigger. That caused my dick to twitch behind my slacks.

Reaching up, I grabbed a hold of her wrist and gripped it tightly. “I’m giving you two seconds to pull the trigger and you better make it count,” I said calmly. All eyes were locked on us, but I only saw her.

Her mouth twitched and her nostrils flared.

Twisting her arm, I de-armed her, causing her to yelp and the gun to drop before pulling her into me and slamming my mouth into hers, kissing her savagely.

For a second her body relaxed and a moan fell into my mouth. “Now, be a good girl and let me handle this,” I mumbled against her lips, then nipped her bottom lip.

She snapped her head back and glared at me.

Winking at her, I released her. Her cheeks puffed out and she released a heavy breath. She leaned down and snatched her gun back up resting it at her side.

“Now let’s go.” I adjusted my tie.

We headed for the table where the Rhodes sat. Both Maddox and Neil sat there shooting daggers at Cashlynn. On her face was a deadpan expression. Tension was high in the room. Jackson and Luke stood to the side of us while Bruce and James stood behind.

“Don’t look at my wife,” I sneered at the Rhodes. “This is between us,” I snarled, causing both of their eyes to snap to me. All of the playfulness left me. Now it was time to handle business. “This won’t take long.” I stood straight, making sure I had their attention.

“You see this?” I reached over and grabbed Cashlynn’s hand. “This rock on her finger shows she’s mine. Which means she’s a Tavarez. Which means any threat on her life is null and void. I don’t give a fuck what issues you had with her before, she’s mine and I don’t play about mine.”

“She tried to kill my son!” Neil gritted. Jackson and Luke’s hands went to their sides where their guns were and they stepped forward. I lifted my hand. These two were a joke. They might be known because they pushed drugs widely across the city, but they put no fear in my heart. When I set this meeting up, it held one purpose, to make it clear Cashlynn was off limits now.

“You’re lucky I failed because I don’t miss. I should put a bullet through your sick ass head now.” Cashlynn still had the gun in her hand and went to step forward, but I held her in place. She glanced up at me, scowling.

“Now, now Wildfire. No need for all that. Neil and Maddox here understand that if they try to harm you in any way, I’ll make sure their whole bloodline is erased from existence. Your son having to relearn to walk will be nothing compared to what I do to you. Unless you want your bodies chopped up and scattered around the city, I advise you to make it known to everyone that the hit on my wife is no more. Understood?”

Maddox’s face paled; Neil’s still held a scowl.

I released her hand and turned to leave. Cashlynn had other plans. She lifted her gun and pulled the trigger.

“Ah fuck! The bitch shot me!” Maddox cried, holding his arm.
