I picked up where I stopped once Kairus busted in the room. It was rough and a couple times he made me repeat the sentence when I stumbled. His strokes never lessened or ran off beat. It was sexy if I was being honest. Passion gushed up my spine. My body soared on a high like I had been dosed with the purest ecstasy money could buy.

Kairus grabbed me by the hair and pulled my head back. I dropped the book and squeezed my eyes shut.

“You did so good, now I’m gonna reward you,” he stated, his voice low and throaty.

I gripped the arm of the chair tightly feeling his dick swell inside me. My mouth parted and my eyes closed when I felt him release inside me. Clenching my walls, it wasn’t long before I was cumming with him.

Breathing heavily, my body sagged once he released me and pulled outta me. I wasn’t sure what to expect from Kairus because his moods seemed to change at the drop of a dime.

Neither of us spoke for a while, but I could hear him moving around behind me.

“This library belonged to my mother. She was sick and would come here for an escape.” I shot my eyes open and by the time I looked behind me he was gone. The last thing I expected was that confession. I didn’t know a lot about his mom, but hisreaction made sense now. Suddenly I felt bad about coming in here as if I had contaminated some sacred space.

Slowly I rose from the chair and looked around. I couldn’t leave the room a mess like this, not after what I just learned.

It took a little bit for me to gather myself, but once I did, I cleaned up as much as I could and grabbed my shorts. Wincing at our mixed release sliding out of me, I bent down and picked the teacup up, examining it. There was a chip at the top, but it was still usable.

I left the library trying to decide if I wanted to go find Kairus or leave him be for now. His mom was something he didn’t really talk about, but it was easy to see the subject was off limits.

“I told you to stay outta that room. Maybe next time you’ll listen.” I glared at Lillian, not needing an “I told you so.” She headed for the front door, more than likely leaving for the day.

Deciding it would be best to give Kairus his space for now, I headed upstairs for my bedroom. I knew a conversation needed to be had. I just had to gather my thoughts before it happened.

“I knew from the moment you were born, you were a demon that needed to be purified,” my mom spat as she paced back and forth in front of me, ranting. I stood there with my hands clenched at my sides. The cut going across my left eye began to ache listening to her harsh words. I should have been used to it by now, I’ve dealt with this from her my whole life. It was rare that she was lucid and actually acted like a mother.

Stopping, my mom turned suddenly and sent a hateful glare in my direction. “Nothing to say for yourself?”

I stayed quiet, knowing it was pointless for me to say anything. I used to try and plead my case but it only made things worse. My body hardened, going into defensive mode. My blood swirled around my head and my heart pounded loudly.

“Stupid. Stupid,” she muttered and shook her head, going back to her pacing.

I swallowed hard and scanned the kitchen. My dad was gone doing whatever he did when he wasn’t terrorizing the house.

I watched as my mom sank deeper and deeper into her own mind, getting lost in the vile sense of reality her thoughts created. Since I was old enough to remember, my mom had always called me a demon seed, proclaiming her child was switched inside her. I’d hardly seen the lucid woman I was sure she was before she met my dad.

“Mom,” I called out, attempting to gain her attention. Even with everything she’d done to me over the years I wanted to see better for her. I knew how she behaved wasn’t her fault. My dad refused to get her help, no matter how clear it was she needed it.

She stood in front of the stove staring as if she was looking through me, as if she was in some kind of trance.

Wetting my lips, I slowly stepped closer to her. She watched me, unblinking.

Slowly, I lifted my hand to touch her.

“Die, demon!” she shrieked “Leave my son!” Before I realized what was happening, a burning sensation filled the left side of my body. It felt as if my skin was burning off. A loud shrill left my mouth. My mom’s rants continued as I fell to my knees…

“Kairus, Kairus!” My eyes snapped open and bounced around wildly until they landed on my hands wrapped around Azeira’s neck as she lay under me. I blinked a couple of times, allowing my eyes to focus. Fear and concern beamed in her orbs.

“Kairus,” she strained lowly. Her shaking hand lifted and touched my face. For a second the burns felt real, the pain I had experienced was like déjà vu.

My top lip curled up. My blood blazed and raced through my veins.

“Fuck!” I bellowed, releasing her. Cold sweat dripped from my forehead as my stomach recoiled. My breathing felt rushed and my chest was tight. I squeezed my eyes shut and took a few deep breaths to ease my racing heart.

It had been years since I had any nightmares like the one I had tonight. Years since I thought about that day or the weeks following that time.

“Kairus.” Azeira’s soft voice broke through the haze that now clouded my mind. I balled my hands on my lap.

“It’s okay, you didn’t mean it. Are you okay?”
