Her eyes are red, and I hate that I know exactly how she’s feeling.
She takes a shaky breath. “I will be. But we didn’t get anything. There was nothing on his phone or laptop. He got away with it.” She shakes her head in disbelief.
There is no way I’m letting him go free. I know how hard it would be for her to win a legal case. It was so long ago, and there’s no physical evidence. But there has to besomething.
“He does not deserve the attention he has gotten from you,” Sophie says disgustingly as she shows me her phone.
It’s a picture of us at dinner tonight, posted by TMZ and captioned,A golden date or a gold digger?
Holy shit.
“That’s it. That’s how we do it. That’s how we expose him.”
“What do you mean?” Stella begs for an answer.
“Do you realize that I have twenty-two million followers? We post a video or do a live stream. We expose him for who he really is.” A spark of hope bursts in my chest. “Do you think you were the only one, Stella?”
She stares at me for a long moment before closing her eyes and saying, “No. I don’t even think I was the first.”
“Then, we live-stream it. You tell your story, and we ask for anyone else to come forward. Worst case, his reputation is ruined, and everyone will know who he is and what he’s done. At least twenty-two million people will. What do you say? It’s your story. You already helped us get our justice. I say it’s your turn.”
Stella looks up at Cade, smiles, and scans the rest of the room. Passing over Sophie and Rose, Keanu and Max, Brooke, Cal, and then back to me. And I know she feels exactly what I’m feeling—loved.
“Let’s do it.”
TWENTY-NINE
CalLUM
It’s only been a few days since Stella and Becca went live on her Instagram, and the response has been monumental. It’s been talked about everywhere and byeveryone, including news channels across the country, theTodayshow, and evenEllen.
It’s like everyone has taken Stella under their wing and wants justice for her. People have made T-shirts, and there have been protests for stricter laws when it comes to sexual assault. Stella and Becca are making a difference, and they didn’t even mean to.
Becca got a few texts from Austin, threatening her. She wasn’t having it and blocked him after the third one. She might have taken it lightly, but I haven’t left her side since, except for practice. Andthis.
“Thank you, guys, for this, seriously,” I tell the boys as we walk back into the hotel.
Chance, Rhett, Dawson, and Donovan helped me get this surprise ready for Becca, and I can’t thank them enough. There’s no way I could have ever pulled this off by myself.
“It’s no problem, man. Anything for ourcaptain.” Rhett mocks me, waving his arms as he fake bows to me.
I raise my hand up for him to toss me the football. “Shut it, Rolo.”
He passes it to me. “No way we could turn down doing a nice thing for your hot girlfriend.”
“Watch it,” I warn him and throw the ball back.
He shrugs. “I mean, that’s just a fact. And if we’re nice to her, she might introduce us to her hot friends, just saying. We’ll be back in the house next week. She could bring some by.”
“Doubt it.” I laugh.
“We’ll catch you later.” Chance winks at me, and at first, I don’t get it.
But then honey-blonde hair is flying into my eyes, and two surprisingly strong arms wrap around my neck.
“I missed you,” Becca breathes into my ear, and it really shouldn’t have the reaction it does on me.
But her existence turns me on, so her hot breath whispering into my ear makes the room feel a thousand degrees warmer in the blink of an eye.
