She walked straight up to Gemma and embraced her. “I’m Marie, and you’re Gemma. I have seen you coming for a very long time. It’s about time you got here.”

“Ma’am?” Gemma asked, clearly confused.

“Marie is a powerful witch. She can see the past, present, and future,” Theo explained. “She must have been talking about the fact she knew you would be coming into my life.”

“I did indeed. You are getting smarter,” Marie said.

Ivan coughed as though to conceal a laugh.

Marie put her hand on Gemma’s stomach. “Your daughter will be very powerful as well. She will have incredible talents that will be unrivaled. You must train her to be happy, loving, and gentle, so she can help create peace and happiness among the shifter worlds. She has been blessed by the moon goddess.”

Ivan looked confused.

“Grandfather, Gemma is pregnant. She is going to have our baby.”

“It’s about damned time,” Ivan said grumpily, but his smile couldn’t hide his joy.

Ivan called a meeting of the dragon shifters for the evening. When the elder of the council called a meeting, one did not disobey, so the hall was filled with dragons.

“We have several things I wish to celebrate tonight,” he said. “First, the new leader of the wolf shifter pack issued a formal apology and offered a proverbial olive branch, asking for peace between our groups once again. While dragons do enjoy a good war, we enjoy peace much more.”

The loud clapping and cheering affirmed his statement.

When the noise died down, Ivan said, “The second great bit of news is that I’m going to be a great-grandfather. Gemma is with child.”
