Not only that, but the shadow was big and Tony wasn’t a small man. He was six feet tall, but he had to look up at the head hidden beneath the cloak.

“Who are you?” he asked.

That’s when he heard it.

Someone whispered the dead woman’s name. He heard it as clear as day.

“You’re not her. Who are you?” he asked again, trying to get any information he could from the apparition.

The shadow moved closer.

Then, when he least expected it, the apparition rushed through him, disappearing into the wall.

Tony closed his eyes, and felt the chill pass through him. When he opened them, there was a breeze.

Still.

The scientist in him needed to figure out where the breeze was coming from so he could debunk some of this.

He simply couldn’t help himself.

With his flashlight, he headed toward the dark shadowy corner of the crypt. When he reached the one wall that was barely illuminated by the singular light, he held his hand up, and there was air coming through a crack.

Holy shit.

There was something behind this wall. From the dimensions of the castle, Tony did the math, and it wasn’t the outside of the building.

The shape was all wrong.

When he pushed on the stone, he heard that creaking noise like there was nothing behind it as it slightly shifted.

It was when something touched his shoulder that he jumped and spun.

It was Graham.

“What are you doing?” he asked.

God.

He hadn’t heard him coming.

“Wear a bell, my dude. You almost gave me the big one.”

He was amused.

Graham had woken up from his nap, and both Tony and the skull were gone. He figured he knew where they would be.

“Sorry. I was a soldier. I don’t make noise when I walk. What are you doing?”

He had questions of his own.

“What’s behind the wall?”

Graham rarely came down here, and on top of that, it was dark in the back corner.

“I don’t know. I can ask the construction crew to take a look when they have a chance. We don’t want to open a wall if it’s structural. If you collapse this castle, Callen’s going to be angry. Chris too.”

He had a point.
