They don’t know what happened in his past, but theyhoped that he would find that forever home before his final day came.

Miles looked into the kennel that day and knew that Diesel was meant to be his. The sweet Doberman lay on the cot in his kennel, not moving until Miles got closer to the door.

Perking up, Diesel walked over and sniffed him through the cage before lying down at his feet. There was never a question at that moment that he wasn’t the perfect addition to his life.

That was almost a year ago and Diesel has been exactly what Miles hoped. He couldn’t understand why all the other people had brought him back, but he would be grateful for it, because that meant that he was able to take him home and love him forever.

The pound wasn’t lying about his protective instincts, though. Curious about what he could do, Miles took Diesel to a professional to have testing and training done with him.

Six weeks of rigorous training helped Diesel become the best version of himself that he could be.

The trainers spoke with high regard for his protective training and that made Miles feel a lot better about having him guard the house.

While Miles waited on Diesel to get done doing his business, he went about his normal routine getting things ready for work tomorrow.

Setting the coffee pot to brew at five-thirty in the morning, Miles went and laid out the suit he would need for tomorrow.

Selecting a charcoal grey suit, a black button up, pairing those with a purple tie and socks that were green with purple polka-dots on them, he laid it all on the ottoman in the closet.

One thing about Miles is that he would never give in to the normal of wearing boring ties and socks. Where was the fun in that when you could have fun and tacky clothes that could make everyone smile when they saw them.

With Diesel inside now, Miles lay down in bed after double-checking his alarms. Opening his messages one last time with Olivia, hoping to see something there, he shot off one last text before going to bed.

He hoped that she would answer tomorrow. Closing his eyes, Miles drifted away dreaming of a very special Little girl he would one day call his.

Getting to work Monday morning,Miles immediately searched out Emmett. He knew that if anyone knew anything about Olivia, he would.

Emmett is a tad protective over his Little girl Rae, so he wouldn’t let anyone around her that he thought wasn’t a good person.

Miles didn’t know much about Raelyn’s past, but he did know that there had been some bad experiences.

That’s why Emmett was as protective as he was. Miles didn’t blame him, Olivia might not be his official, but he was already very protective of his Little girl.

“Hey man, do you have a second?”

“Sure, what’s up?”

“Can you tell me a little bit about Olivia? She ran off on Saturday and I can’t help but feel like there’s more to her than what she shows people.”

Miles sat and waited for Emmett’s response. It looked as if he needed a moment to gather his thoughts on her.

“I honestly can’t tell you much. I know that she moved here about nine months ago from Tennessee. She works with Rae at Ivory Mountain, on the same unit. She doesn’t go out often and she only spends time with Rae at our house.”

Nodding his head at Emmett, Miles digested this information. Most of what he just told him, Miles already knew. It wasn’t hard to figure all of that out about her.

“There’s only one other detail I know about her, she’s a Little. One that is very guarded and doesn’t allow people too close. She also never seems to allow herself to slip into Littlespace often, almost like she’s scared of what will happen.”

This information shocked Miles. Not because she was a Little. Just in the two interactions he has had with her, he wouldn’t have guessed otherwise. Miles couldn’t help but focus on the last part of Emmett’s statement.

Miles had never met a Little who didn’t enjoy playing in Littlespace. He couldn’t help but wonder why she fears that space and he planned on making it his mission to help his Little Bunny accept that part of herself, if that’s what she wants.

Miles would never force her to do something she was uncomfortable with, but he didn’t doubt that she would enjoy Littlespace if she allowed herself to openly participate in it.

“Thanks so much, man. I never heard back from her Saturday after she fled the party. It’s driving me insane that I can’t get her to answer me. I can’t help but fear that something horrible has happened.”

“No worries. I know that she’s reached out to Raelyn and that she expressed to her that she was fine and safe at home. Something happened and she just needed to go home.”

Waving bye to Emmett, Miles headed to his office down the hall. He played their entire conversation over and over in his head trying to figure out what exactly went wrong.
