Any time he asks about her past, she immediately shuts down the conversation. Miles couldn’t help but wonder if there was something more going on there, but he was trying not to push too fast for fear that she would run scared.

She was like a scared little bunny, timid and ready to flee at any moment.Miles walked into the coffee shop that Liv recommended they have their date and grinned.

The little mom and pop shop is exactly the kind of place that he expected his Little girl to frequent. He glanced around and didn’t see her yet, so he decided to go ahead and grab a table.

Less than five minutes later he watched Olivia walk into the coffee shop and lost his breath. She looked stunning in her pink babydoll dress, white frilly socks with hot pink converse.

She had finished the look by pulling her beautiful long black hair into a half up ponytail with a sparkly white bow.

Miles slid out of the booth and met her at the counter just as he heard the college age girl behind the counter ask Liv if she wanted her normal order.

“You can add her normal to my tab. I would also like a oat milk latte with vanilla syrup. Could you recommend a pastry?”

The barista looked at Olivia waiting for her to acknowledge that this was okay before responding to his request.

“I personally love the strawberry muffins, but the lovely lady here always gets the blueberry scone. No matter what you choose though, you won’t be upset. Everything here is delicious!”

“That all sounds amazing. Go ahead and add both the muffin and another blueberry scone to the order.” Miles responded by handing over his black AMEX card.

The barista finished ringing them up and told them she would bring their order over when it was done. Placing a hand on Olivia’s back, Miles guided her to the booth he occupied in the back.

“Hey, Little Bunny. I’m so excited to see you today. I’ve looked forward to this day all week.”

Olivia grinned and blushed at him. He loved seeing the blush creep across her face. It was adorable to watch. Especially since she tried to hide her face when it did.

“I’m glad that we could do this, too. Knowing I had this today is what kept me going during my shifts at work. It was really helpful yesterday when I had a combative resident.”

Miles really didn’t like the sound of that. He didn’t like that his Little one dealt with combative people sometimes, but he would never tell her that she couldn’t work there.

Just from the brief conversations they have had about herjob, Miles knew that she loved it and the residents she took care of.

“I’m lucky that the hit to my face didn’t give me a black eye this time.”

Halting the growl that creeped up his throat, “I’m glad to hear that, too. I don’t want my Little girl getting hurt like that.”

The appearance of the barista stopped any response that Olivia could have made and Miles decided to continue the conversation.

He was determined to try and pull a little bit more personal information out of her during their time together.

“So, you mentioned that you recently moved to Ivory Mountain. What made you decide to come here?”

He watched her shoulders tense before she took a small breath and relaxed. That action confirmed in Miles’ mind that there was something that she was hiding about her past. He just didn’t have a clue what it could be.

“Uh yeah, I moved here about nine months ago. I don’t know, I just decided one day that I needed a change and picked a spot on the map and well, here I am.”

None of what she said sounded remotely like something a normal twenty-two year old would do. Who just up and leaves everything they have ever known and moves to a town where they know no-one. Something wasn’t adding up.

Deciding not to push farther on that topic, Miles switched gears and started asking her about what her plans were for the rest of the day.

“Oh, I don’t have much planned. I need to make a stop at the store to pick up a few small things and then I’ll just be spending time at the house in my pajamas. It’s been a long few days and I could use the down time to just recoup.”

Miles understood how important it was for Little girls totake care of their mind and body and he was proud of his Little one for knowing when she needed to do that.

He could tell, even under the makeup she wore today, that she had dark circles under her eyes. Those showed him she didn’t always get enough sleep.

That would become one of his goals when she officially became his. His baby needed all the rest that she could get and he would be there to make sure it happened.

Miles and Olivia spent the next few hours just sitting and talking about anything and everything. It was all surface conversations, but Miles knew that he would have to build up trust with Olivia.
