Chapter 26 - Frank

“Nina, we need to go,” I yelled up the stairs to the bedrooms, waiting for Nina to emerge from our bedroom. I adjusted my tie, hating how tight it felt against my throat. “And do I really have to wear this damn thing? Who puts together a black-tie dinner anyway? Doesn't that seem a bit much?”

I heard footsteps coming down the stairs and turned as Nina started down them. She looked as stunning as ever, wearing her long black hair in a bun on the side with some pieces falling free. She was wearing a deep red long dress and a diamond necklace. I felt my breath hitch at the sight of her.

What really took my breath away was her baby bump. Nina was about five months along now, due in a few weeks. It warmed my heart to see her and to know how much had changed over the past few months.

Nina moved into my bedroom, and we set up the nursery with the crib. We decided on a Winnie-the-Pooh-themed bedroom. We had decided to paint the house and make it more baby-friendly, as Nina said. I didn't argue because, after a few weeks of her decorating, it felt more at home than I thought it could.

I didn't mind. I saw the way her eyes sparkled when we painted or changed things up. I enjoyed seeing the changes and knowing this was our home and not just mine anymore.

“How do I look?” Nina asked as she got to the last step. She did a little turn, and I internally moaned at the sight of her.

“Like I could bend you over and fuck you against the stair railing.”

Her face turned a shade of red, and she slapped my arm. “You're terrible, Frank.”

“Oh, come on, you jumped me last night. I'm just making sure the score is fair.”

She rolled her eyes at me. “That's different. It was time for bed. We weren't seconds from leaving the door to go to a fancy party.”

I groaned, pulling at the tie again. Nina slapped my hand and started fixing it. “Stop messing with it. You're being a child.”

I grunted. “Why do I have to wear a tie?”

“Because it goes with the suit,” she chuckled. Her perfume hit me, and I groaned.

“Jesus, you smell…”

“It's a new perfume I bought.” She gave me a smile and then stepped back. “There, it's fixed. Shall we go? We don't want to be late.”

I wanted to grab her and pull her to me, but I knew how eager she was about this party. We had gotten so busy with getting the house ready for the baby that she hadn't gotten to go out as much as she wanted to. She was going to be seeing the girls, and she'd looked forward to it.

I stuffed my hunger down and placed my hand on her back. “You look stunning, dear.”

She gave me a big grin. “Aw, thank you. Are we good to go? Is the gift in the car?”

“If by gift you mean the very large plant in the back of the jeep, yeah, it's in there.”

She chuckled. “She said she wanted more plants.”

I gave her a face. “I'm sure Jay will appreciate it.”

She elbowed me. “Oh, hush. Be happy it's going in her house and not here.” She opened the door, and we stepped outside. As she headed to the Jeep, I found my eyes glued to her ass. I groaned internally, knowing that this party was going to be hard.

The drive home was calm. Nina read a book as I drove, asking questions every few moments. “Who do you think the baby is going to take after?”

“What?”

Nina looked up from her book. “Who do you think the baby will be like? Me or you?”

“Who do you want the baby to be like?”

Nina thought about it for a moment when she looked at me. “A little of both. I hope it gets your eyes.”

“My eyes? What about yours?”

“You have colored eyes, while mine are black. And I hope it's a shifter.”
