Nix’s finger’s curled, but he didn’t twist his wrist and break free. Not even when Lance’s lips brushed over the pulse in his neck.Lance didn’t bite.It would’ve been easier to hate Lance if he had used his weakness against him.Instead, Lance kissed lower, working his way to the hollow between Nix’s collarbones.
He lay there letting Lance taste and kiss his skin for a few more heartbeats, growing harder with every heartbeat. This wasn’t how it was supposed to go.“Are you going to lick me to death, Orlan?”
This slow torture was one he’d submit to quite happily, but they didn’t have all night, and if one of Lance’s family members showed up, they were both in a whole lot of painful trouble.
Lance wasn’t supposed to be here.
And he was supposed to be killing Orlans, not kissing this one.
Lance licked the cut on Nix’s jaw and then sucked on it.Nix shuddered even though he didn’t want to like it.It was too much like being bitten.
“Only until you see reason.”
Nix pulled his hand free.“I am being reasonable; you’re being stupid.”He shoved Lance’s head away, but this time, Lance was ready. He slammed Nix’s hand back into the grass, his body pressed hard against him.
Nix’s heart kicked over. This wasn’t a side of Lance he’d seen before, and he liked it.Liked the wild gleam in his eyes and the fight in his blood. He flicked Lance off, rolling over to straddle him.Lance was smiling as if he didn’t realize Nix could rip his throat out and end him.He was fucking stupid and had a death wish strong enough to match his own.
Lance was perfect.
Nix leaned down.“We were enemies from the day we were born, Orlan.A little sex doesn’t change that.”
Lance’s hand slid under his shirt, leaving a trail of heat over his skin. Then he casually undid the buttons as if they had all the time in the world.“It wasn’t just sex, Nix.”
Nix rolled his eyes.“I had to fill in the two weeks somehow.”
Lance threaded his fingers through Nix’s hair and pulled him down for a kiss.Nix should’ve resisted. At the last moment, he turned his head, sinking his teeth into Lance’s neck, deep and hard.Lance jerked beneath him, grinding against him, groaning in his ear.
Lance should hate him, fear him.Not want to screw him.
Nix pulled away.He didn’t need to feed, but Lance always tasted so good. The wound was raw, designed to hurt not tease.“I hate your blood, Orlan.”
“Then I’ll drain it so you have one less thing to hate. You want this feud to end.”
“It won’t ever end.Your aunt won’t let it.I should’ve known better. There’s only one way out for me.But I can save you.”
Lance undid Nix’s belt and jeans.“I’m not going to kill you.”
It was the easy pattern of behavior.Fuck and forget about the trouble brewing.Sex was how this trouble had started. He couldn’t resist Lance. They should’ve fought that first day.Ended it in the car park of the winery. But the last week and a half had been the best of his life.“Then you’re no fucking good to me, Orlan.”
With a twist of Lance’s hips, Nix found himself on his stomach, Lance pinning him to the ground. He struggled half-heartedly as Lance grabbed his hands and pulled them behind his back. Then Lance yanked Nix’s shirt down, so it tangled his arms. That was a little harder to get free from, but nothing he couldn’t manage if he wanted.
He didn’t want.
Lance lay over him, one knee wedged up rather close to Nix’s balls. He grabbed a handful of hair, restricting all of Nix’s movements unless he was willing to tear out a clump of his own hair, which at the moment, he wasn’t because he was still having fun.He wanted to know what Lance would do next.
Lance’s breath was warm in his ear.“Say my name.”
He knew what Lance wanted but couldn’t give it to him.“Orlan.”
“We aren’t enemies even though our families are.”Lance bit the lobe of Nix’s ear.
Nix winced and wriggled, squirming to get away but liking the pressure of the teeth on his skin.“I don’t think you know what you’re doing up there, Orlan.”
He expected the bite that time, and his stomach flipped with expectation and dread even though it was only the tiniest nibble on his earlobe.
“Call me, Lance.”
“That can be my safe word since you’ve got me all trussed up.”Two meters away, one of the knives glinted.Further was the edge of the cliff. He wasn’t going back to Melbourne.Nix turned his head a little, feeling the pull in his scalp.“Or are you going to bore me to death, Orlan?”
